Cider Vasileostrovsky: an overview of taste and types

History of the brand

Vasileostrovskaya Brewery was founded in 2002 by a team of enthusiastic brewers.

Initially, the company specialized in brewing special beers for bars and restaurants.

But a few years later, the products of the brewery appeared on store shelves.

Since 2012, the range of drinks has been replenished with cider.

A distinctive feature of Vasileostrovsky ciders is the lack of pasteurization. This shortens the life of the drink, but gives it a special taste and retains the natural aroma.

Another visiting card of cider is a bottle. While competitors prefer to bottle their product in beer bottles, Vasileostrovsky’s packaging is stylized as champagne bottles.

And they are sealed with wood corks. This allows the content to “breathe” and improves its taste.

  1. Cider Half Dry

    A semi-dry cider made from fermented apple juice. The manufacturer emphasizes that it contains only reconstituted juice and yeast.

    The drink itself has a rich golden color and a pleasant apple flavor with a slight dryness.

    Many tasters note a yeasty aftertaste.

    For some, this will be another proof of the naturalness of the product. The rest of you should take note.

    The rest is a classic semi-dry cider. Moderately strong, moderately carbonated.

  2. Cider Poirier

    A variety of cider made from pear juice, it has a rich liquid gold color and a bright aroma of ripe fruit.

    The taste of the drink is refreshingly sweet, reminiscent of champagne.

    There is also a yeasty taste. The finish is short, fruity.

  3. Cedar Square

    A special drink from the “Specialties” category. Released seasonally from April to October.

    Its unique feature is a black-violet color obtained with dark malt extract.

    It was the dark color of the drink that prompted the creators to name it in honor of the famous painting “Black Square” by Kazimir Malevich, whose reproduction adorns the bottle.

    The taste combines the soft sweetness of apples and the bitter taste of malt.

    As in the case with other ciders of the Vasilevsky Brewery, the taste of yeast is also felt in the Kvadrat. But here it only adds spice.

    The aroma is natural: fruits, malt, some spices.

What to Serve with Cider

The drink can be served both before the meal and during it. It is great for informal events like picnics, barbecues or parties.

A variety of bright flavors will please anyone, and a low alcohol content will not let you lose control over yourself.

The best company for cider will be lean meats, seafood and poultry.

Try to serve it with Russian or European cuisine.

Spicy and fatty foods are not the best combination with such a drink.
