Chrysanthemum multiflora: planting and care
Chrysanthemum multiflora is an early flowering species that does not require bush formation. Her spherical shape is inherent in genetics. There are many varieties of this plant, but they are grown the same way.
Planting chrysanthemum multiflora in open ground
The spherical chrysanthemum is grown both in the open field and as a pot culture. Most varieties begin to bloom in September, but there are plants on which the buds open already at the end of August. Potted chrysanthemums are brought into a dark, cool room for the winter. They do not hibernate in indoor conditions.
The color of flowers in chrysanthemum multiflora can be very diverse.
For planting chrysanthemums, choose a sunny place. In the shade, the bushes stop blooming, the shoots stretch out. You can plant purchased seedlings in early spring, at the very beginning of April. Small frosts during this period are not terrible for the plant.
Before planting, the soil is prepared in advance, mineral fertilizers are applied and dug up. For normal growth and development of the bush, about 60 cm is left between the holes.
Multiflora is transplanted every few years, as the bushes grow quickly and lose their decorative effect. In the spring, as soon as shoots appear, the mother plant is dug up and divided. Delenki are planted as usual.
What care do multiflora chrysanthemums need?
The abundant flowering of chrysanthemums can be observed if properly cared for. There is nothing difficult in this, it is enough to adhere to the basic requirements:
- water the plant moderately throughout the season;
- feed the bush in spring;
- treated for pests and diseases as needed;
- cut off the aerial part after flowering.
Immediately after planting, the chrysanthemum is well watered. If the weather is dry, you will need to moisten the soil every few days. As soon as the bushes take root, they are fed with mullein solution or humus. In the current season, the plant is no longer fertilized. If the summer is rainy, then every 10 days you need to spray the multiflora with copper-containing preparations. In autumn, all old shoots are cut at a level of 10 cm from the soil. This procedure is necessary so that in the future the plant will hurt less and bloom profusely.
With proper care, the spherical chrysanthemum blooms for a long time and profusely. To admire the beautiful inflorescences, dry baskets need to be cut off in time.
