Chronic viral hepatitis C can be cured by coffee

Several cups of coffee a day can help slow the progression of pathological changes in patients with chronic hepatitis C and associated liver disease. These are the conclusions reached by American scientists.

“Regular coffee consumption is associated with a reduced rate of disease progression,” write the authors of the article in the scientific journal Hepatology.

For four years, they followed 766 patients with complicated liver diseases caused by hepatitis C. None of the patients were able to help with traditional drugs. All patients were divided into groups, depending on how many Czech coffee per day they drank.

The results showed that study participants who drank three or more cups of coffee a day had a 47% lower risk of worsening in one clinical measure. Scientists have not found the effect of tea on the health of patients.
