Christmas tree made of paper: master class

Such a tradition has developed – to bring a Christmas tree into the house. But it doesn’t have to be real. This essential attribute of the New Year may look unusual.

Christmas tree made of paper

Herringbone “Braid”

Materials:

  • Dark green corduroy, 30 cm (450 rubles / m)
  • Foam cone, 20 x 9 cm (30 rubles)
  • Pieces of drape and tapestry
  • Thin golden cord, 1 m (10 rubles / m)

Tools:

glue gun, sheet of paper, scissors, tweezers, tapestry needle (with a large eye), a flat piece of dry soap

  1. Make a paper pattern in the shape of a cone. Wrap it with a piece of paper and cut off the excess edges at the base.
  2. Cut out the base for covering the cone from the corduroy (with a vertical seam allowance of 0,5 cm), placing the strips of fabric production vertically. Mark the locations of the braided sections and make vertical cuts in them. Use the ripper included in the sewing machine accessory kit to make the noodles. Choose the width of the stripes depending on the texture of the fabric – 2-3 grooves of corduroy.
  3. Cut into strips (0,5 cm thick) for weaving from different drape with a pile and bright tapestry. Use a pair of tweezers to insert them between the corduroy strips like a basket weave – in a checkerboard pattern.

  • In the process of weaving, glue the middle in several places and the ends of the strips to the base from the wrong side with Moment glue.
  • Cut off all the ends of the strips with a corner. Decorate the braid with a thin golden cord, passing it through the row under the corduroy strips.
  • Using a glue gun, glue the braided backing onto the cone. Close the bottom edge with a fleecy edge of the drape fabric.
  • By the way

Corduroy can be used in a variety of ways to decorate cones, such as combining it with faux fur. Draw on the pattern where the fur is filled. The drawing should imitate spruce branches. Cut out the islets using fine-tipped nail scissors. At the same time, carefully cut only the dense base of the fur, being careful not to damage the pile. Sew a buttonhole to the bottom hem and each fur piece. From a piece of felt, cut a small five-pointed star (2,5 cm), leaving a “leg” for attaching to the crown of the Christmas tree. Use a glue gun to glue the cone with a fabric base. Glue all the fur details on top, putting a star in the crown.

The easiest and fastest option is to paste over the cone with bright, non-decorative fabrics. Arrange them in three “floors” and decorate with guipure snowflakes.

Another version of the “corduroy” Christmas tree can be made according to the principle of making children’s flashlights. The most difficult thing is to prepare a pattern. Separate the top of the pattern (the top triangle is 10–12 cm high). Cut it horizontally in two places and move the pieces apart in height, stepping back 3,5 cm from each other. These “straight” sections must be cut into strips using a ripper. When gluing the fabric onto the cone, connect the separated parts – you will get lanterns from stripes. The remaining lower part of the pattern must be divided into three vertical parts – trapeziums. Prepare each of them in the same way and glue it in turn, precisely aligning the vertical joints. Close the horizontal seam with smart tape. The crown can be cut from a large square sequin and glued to the crown.
