Christmas comes to Jijona

As a prelude to Christmas, and to begin to involve the public in the gastronomic passion of these holidays, the Alicante town of Jijona, opens the doors this weekend of the traditional Christmas Fair.

During the days 5, 6, 7 and 8 of December the seventh edition of the Christmas trade fair will be held, which will bring together almost a hundred exhibitors in its booths that will show and offer the visiting public their elaborations of sweets and nougat, food to celebrate the typical festivals and decorations.

The whole family will enjoy a festive environment, weeks before the actual start of the festivities, which brings together a variety of the highest quality of Nougat, Marzipan and Polvorones with PGI (Protected Geographical Indication), heritage of the town and in turn reason for celebration and symbol of family union.

Behind this new call is the Xixona City Council and the Association of Entrepreneurs and Merchants, which seek to spread and stimulate local commerce, with a quality and especially gastronomic initiative in one of the cradles of traditional pastries consumed at Christmas.

The stands are already being installed on Avenida de la Constitución in the town, where the Picó, Antiu Jijona or El Lobo, share a poster, awning and product with the excellent and high quality products of Sirvent, Verdú, Mira, Garrigós, Sanchís or Coloma, among others…

The activities of the Jijona Christmas Fair

As every playful act must be accompanied by a good program of recreational activities, and in parallel to the exhibition and sale of Christmas products, the organization of the event already prepares an endless number of live culinary demonstrations and different workshops and tastings that will be held held for the duration of the Fair in the days prior to the feast of the immaculate on December 8.

There will be no shortage of elaboration workshops for children and adults, which will once again be the main attraction of the brave who want to participate in the delicious preparation of homemade nougat and marzipan. Or simply taste a delicious hot chocolate while learning shapes and techniques for decorating trees and nativity scenes.

The rest of the activities that the organization of the Fair makes available to the visitor of the town, Jijonesa, are framed in the dissemination of its architectural and cultural heritage with the realization of tourist routes, to monuments, to museums, etc.
