Choose the format of your institution: Party bar

A party bar is the place where people come to have fun, drink cocktails, dance and have a good time. In fact, this is the same nightclub, only working 7 days a week and offering not only a great drink at night, but also breakfast, lunch, dinner. In the evenings, the party bar is always noisy, music plays and there are a lot of people. Usually the institution has a dance floor and tables where drunken girls in dresses dance at the height of the party. This is where the main advantage of a party bar follows: unlike clubs, it can also earn money on Monday!

Almost always there are face controllers at the entrance to the bar. Each party bar specializes in its target audience of guests, it can be students, managers, foreigners, models, creative people, stars or even politicians! This is the main difference between a party bar and all other formats and a great opportunity to determine and regulate your audience yourself.

By the way, in the United States at the time of its inception, clubs – the progenitors of party bars, were separate for black and white Americans. And the first bar with a dance floor and “hanging special effects” in Europe appeared in Paris – it was “Whisky à Gogo”, in 1953. And the first party bar in Russia was “The Real McCoy” (now deceased since January of this year).

For a party bar, its location is very important, because if it is somewhere on the outskirts, where it is difficult to get to, then even the most professional bartenders and the most delicious cocktails will hardly be able to lure guests. It is worth paying attention to the room itself, there should be a good exhaust, ventilation, it should be spacious itself, dancing people always take up more space. The bar managers of Rolling Stone and Gypsy, popular in Moscow party bars, also call a good place one of their keys to success. In addition to the premises and location, the atmosphere that develops in the institution is very important.

If we talk about the advantages of the format, then the party bar combines 3 different establishments at once: before lunch it is a full-fledged speech-easy (in the following articles), during the day visitors can chat with each other in a quiet and cozy atmosphere, and in the evening the party bar turns into a full-fledged nightclub with all the ensuing consequences.

A party bar is a completely “open” place, interesting articles are often written about them on the Internet and magazines, social media accounts are created for them, parties are announced and advertised. Konstantin Komarov, bar manager of the Gypsy bar, is sure that “our people are not yet ready for closed places”, so public party bars and clubs are very popular and bring great income, for example, to get to the New Year in Gypsy , will have to pay 10 rubles, each!

“Gypsy” is considered by guests more like a club, hence the minuses of the format in relation to the institution: “In Russia, clubs die 2-3 years after opening, while party bars live longer. This is due to the fact that people like everything new and do not like to go to the same place for a long time. Well, then – a snowball: guests stop coming – less profit – you stop paying salaries – the staff leaves – a new one comes, but there is no time to train or check it well – the remaining guests like it less – … ”, Konstantin argues. In order for the place not to get bored, guests need to be entertained and surprised more – it can be themed parties, new cocktails, a new interior or even a new floor – when Rolling Stone first opened, it had only one floor with a bar and a flea market, later a veranda on the roof was opened, there were even more guests, and by the winter it was glazed and another mini veranda was opened above the roof.

Another disadvantage of the party bar, according to bar managers, is the limited range of cocktails: you can’t afford to make complex cocktails, there is a time problem, so the assortment is limited, for example, no flambé, etc. Of course, you can quickly get tired of the duty rum-cola or a screwdriver. The slowness of return is a potential minus of a bar of this format, if a person came to have fun and wants to drink, he needs to provide this opportunity, because if you make the guest wait, he will simply leave.

The party bar attracts different segments of the population, and under the influence of alcohol and crowding (there are always a lot of guests in the party bar), brawls also happen. In addition, the queue at the entrance can also cause mutual hostility and quarrels, because not everyone likes face control, which is typical for a party bar, and makes guests sweat in anticipation.

The peculiarities of the party bars are excellent and well-thought-out light and sound – this, one might say, is the basis, and the art director, who monitors the work of the bar from the inside and plans the program.

To sum up:

Pros: a club with more traffic and more income; longer life than the club; you can earn on Monday morning, when guests come to have breakfast;

Cons: you can not make complex cocktails; need to pay more attention to maintain interest; enhanced security is required;

Features: face control; need an art director; more investments in light and sound; mobile and more durable furniture.
