Cholinex (without sugar) is used in inflammation of the mucosa of the mouth and throat, pain and swelling of the throat accompanying inflammation. The preparation is also used as a drug supporting antibiotic therapy of infections of the oral mucosa and throat caused by certain microorganisms and in the treatment of inflammation of the gums and periodontal tissues.

Cholinex (without sugar) – indications and dosage
Cholinex (without sugar) is a recommended drug:
- in inflammation of the mucosa of the mouth and throat,
- in pain and swelling of the throat during inflammation,
- as a drug supporting antibiotic therapy of infections of the oral mucosa and throat,
- in the treatment of inflammation of the gums and periodontal tissues.
Drug dosage
Cholinex (sugar-free) is a lozenge and should be taken orally. Do not exceed the recommended dose of the preparation.
- Adults and children after the age of 12 Usually suck 1 lozenge 4-6 times a day.
Cholinex (without sugar) and contraindications
There are the following contraindications to taking Cholinex (sugar-free):
- allergy to salicylates, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or any component of the preparation,
- esophageal varices,
- administering patients with phenylketonuria, because the drug contains aspartame,
- in people with hereditary fructose intolerance.
Cholinex (no sugar) – warnings
- Before administering the preparation, consult a doctor in the event of: gastrointestinal inflammation, gastric ulcer and / or duodenal ulcer, and bronchial asthma.
- Do not give the drug to children under 12 years of age, because there is a risk of Reye’s syndrome.
- Pregnant women should not take the drug as there is no information on its safety in this group of women.
- Breastfeeding women may take Cholinex without sugar only after consulting a doctor and in a situation of absolute necessity.
Cholinex (sugar free) with other medications
- The salicylates contained in the drug weaken the effect of other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, but intensify the effect of sedatives and hypnotics, and intensify the work of antidiabetic and anticoagulant drugs.
- There may be a risk of bleeding by taking: steroid and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and anticoagulants, fibrinolytic drugs and drugs that inhibit platelet aggregation.
- The above-mentioned interactions are unlikely to occur if the preparation is taken in the form of lozenges.
Cholinex (without sugar) – side effects
Taking Cholinex lozenges (sugar-free) can cause:
- allergic reactions (reddening of the skin, rash, cough, swelling of the face, tongue, lips, difficulty swallowing or breathing),
- damage to the gastrointestinal mucosa (abdominal pain, vomiting, bleeding),
- very rarely in children under 12 years of age after oral administration of salicylates – Reye’s syndrome.
