Due to the fact that this drug reduces bile stasis, it also prevents the formation of cholesterol deposits and gallstones. It works after a few minutes, but the maximum concentration is reached after 2-3 hours. It is also very important for patients using this drug that it is excreted in the urine.
Indications for the use of Cholestil
The active substance is hymecromone. Cholestil has wide indications for use. It is most often used in adults who already have a diagnosis of biliary disease. It may be a digestive disorder associated with decreased bile secretion, where additional symptoms include anorexia, constipation or nausea. The recommended doses must not be exceeded, as this will not increase the effectiveness of the drug and may lead to poisoning.
You should consult your doctor about taking Cholestil when other therapy is being carried out simultaneously, and even if you regularly take over-the-counter medications or dietary supplements. It is worth knowing that morphine weakens the effect of this drug, and the use of metoclopramide weakens the effect of both agents.
