Cholecystitis is a complication of gallstone disease that occurs by blocking the outflow of bile. The lingering influence irritates the walls of the follicle, and the increase in pressure in the follicle causes disturbances in the blood flow in the mucosa.
Cholecystitis – types
Inflammation of the gallbladder from the point of view of the time of formation and clinical picture may be of the following nature:
- sharp,
- chronic.
Acute cholecystitis
Acute cholecystitis is a medical condition that requires hospital treatment with anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics that penetrate the bile ducts. In the absence of treatment effect – especially if it is accompanied by jaundice – there is a need for surgical intervention.
Chronic cholecystitis
Chronic cholecystitis is a separate or systemic biliary system disease that may be caused by bacterial, parasitic, toxic, or irritating due to the presence of gallstones. The symptoms of chronic cholecystitis include:
- cramp pains in the right hypochondrium or not too strong dull, kneading pains radiating to the area of the right scapula, intensifying after various dietary mistakes;
- frequent belching, nausea, abdominal distension, constipation;
- bad taste in the mouth;
- vomiting;
- sub-jaundice discoloration of the sclera of the eyes.
Primarily chronic cholecystitis can act as a reservoir of bacteria and a potential source of bacterial infection for many years, and sometimes suddenly become acutely inflamed and require surgical treatment. Chronic cholangitis can sometimes also be a consequence of certain surgical procedures (e.g. after duodenal anastomoses).
The diagnosis of chronic inflammation of the gallbladder, and most often the entire biliary system, is based on:
- an interview collected from the patient,
- the results of the so-called physical medical examination,
- auxiliary examinations, including mainly the microscopic and bacteriological examination of bile obtained by performing the so-called duodenal probe.
Chronic cholecystitis – Treatment
Chronic cholecystitis is treated with antibiotics, which the doctor will select individually based on the bacteriological result of bile. The presence of stones and recurrent exacerbations of inflammation or jaundice require surgical treatment.
For prophylactic and supportive treatment of ailments related to the gallbladder, drink tea of hawthorn fruit. You can find the right drought at the Medonet Market.
