Chocolate to bring in autumn

The second edition of the International Chocolate Fair arrives in the capital of Spain at the end of the month

From next Friday, September 20 at 10:00 a.m. to 22:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, the gastronomic event will be held at the Galería de Cristal, at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid.

In this new edition of Chocomad, the international presence will be one of the most outstanding assets, with more than fifty national exhibitors and from various countries such as Peru, the United States, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Venezuela, Panama, Italy, France, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Scotland, Russia, Vietnam and Japan

The event welcomes several exhibitors of all nationalities under the umbrella of the movement “from bean to bar” or chocolate made from small batches of cocoa, a growing trend.

This year, a tribute will be paid to José María Gorrotxategi, a Basque pastry chef and one of the most important figures in Spanish confectionery. His son Rafa will be exhibiting his line of chocolates, pastries and his famous “gorrotxas”.

What can we see at Cocomad 2020

Endless showcookings are waiting for all attendees of the gastronomic event, where more than 40 pastry chefs and chocolatiers offer live their best recipes, chocolate desserts and savory culinary creations.

Live demonstrations between 30 and 45 minutes, given by great professionals such as Rafael Gorrotxategi, David Pallás, Giovanni Conversi or Elizabeth Vázquez among others.

  • Will be presented on First International Contest of Artisan Chocolate, promoted by the Association of Artisan Entrepreneurs of the Madrid Pastry Sector As a novelty, this year there will be a “Chocolate Startups” area dedicated to small artisans and, especially, entrepreneurs.
  • Companies that chocolate tastings hand in hand with master chocolatiers and the maridadas of chocolates with wine o chocolates with beer, are another of the main attractions of the event.
  • Many more events, presentations and competitions such as “the best chocolate palm tree”, the Dinner at The Westin Palace Hotel, based on chocolate, the “Night of cocoa” music and dances from Ivory Coast, the expo on the 500 years of chocolate in Madrid or the union of Art with chocolate in the figure of the symbol of the sample, the Menina de Chocolate.
  • As a novelty, this year there will be a “Chocolate Startups” area dedicated to small artisans and entrepreneurs from the world of sweets.

The Great Chocolate Forum

On Saturday, September 21, a series of conferences begins with experts from around the world linked to the transformation of cocoa into chocolates.

First swords of culinary preparation and study such as Carla Martín, from Harvard University; Jaume Martorell, Cacao manager at 12Tree Panama, and María José Lozada, coffee and chocolate taster, will be some of the speakers at the Forum.

These conferences are dedicated to all those who love chocolate and want to enjoy a day dedicated to learning more, and also to professionals in the chocolate industry.
