Chocolate figurines: how to make it yourself? Video tutorial
Chocolate can be a great gift for a special occasion. Especially if it is made in the form of an original and stylish figurine. And it only seems that such can only be done by professionals. In fact, with a certain skill, it is quite possible to make a chocolate figurine on your own.
The creation of chocolate figures is not only a creative activity, it is also an opportunity to show imagination, in some cases to be with the family, to give the child the opportunity to experiment. Moreover, making chocolate figurines and decorations is not so difficult.
How to make a chocolate figurine
To prepare an original chocolate figurine, you will need:
- molds (whatever your heart desires)
- chocolate (you can black, you can white, you can do both)
- corrugated cardboard and parchment
- food coloring
There may be several ways to make chocolate figurines. Choose the one that suits you best – it will be less laborious, more visual, etc.
To prepare a voluminous figure, take a chocolate bar (if your shape is very deep, use two or more). You can melt chocolate in the microwave or in a water bath. In the first case, crush the chocolate bar into a fireproof container and place it in the oven. Set the microwave setting to 50% power. The time depends on the amount of chocolate used. You can use the following scheme for the calculation: 30-50 g are heated for about a minute, ie. 240 g will melt for about 3 minutes. If you do not have a circle in the microwave that rotates during the heating of the oven, you will have to stop the operation of the device and scroll the container with chocolate yourself. This is necessary in order for the melting process to proceed more evenly. Also, remember to stir the chocolate as you melt.
Experts recommend choosing foreign-made chocolate, since Russian chocolate does not melt well and can leave lumps
The second option for melting chocolate is in a water bath. To do this, grind the tiles and place them in a ladle or small saucepan. Take another larger container and fill it with water. Put it on fire and wait for the liquid to boil. Turn off the heat and wait for the water to cool. Only then can you start melting the chocolate in a water bath. Place a ladle of chocolate in this pot and wait. When it starts to melt, start stirring. This is necessary so that the mass does not burn.
Confectioners assure that dark chocolate melts at a temperature of about 55 degrees, white and milk – at 45 degrees. But you shouldn’t heat chocolate on boiling water, as it will simply brew
If you want to make the chocolate mass more shiny and even, it is recommended to freeze it after the first heating, and then repeat the procedure again, just heating the chocolate to 30 degrees.
It is also necessary to prepare the molds. It is best to purchase specially adapted for this. But silicone is also quite suitable. Wash them thoroughly and dry them dry. Then pour the chocolate. Remember that at the time of working with it, its temperature should be slightly lower than the temperature of the human body.
To avoid bubbles in the finished product, after pouring the chocolate into the molds, lightly tap them on the table. This will help the mass to be better and more evenly distributed over the shape. Then put them in the refrigerator to solidify. This will take 15 to 30 minutes (depending on the size of the mold). All that remains is to turn the molds over and take out the chocolate figurines.
The second option involves the manufacture of fishnet figurines. For this, as a rule, a stencil is used. Melt the chocolate and place it in a pastry syringe. Using a pre-prepared stencil (preferably made on baking paper), start drawing the drawing. So the figurine turns out to be thin and carved.
If you need to attach any parts to each other, do it also with melted chocolate. Just use a brush to grease the parts at the joint and press them together.
How to make a mold for a chocolate figurine yourself
If you are planning an ambitious project for which picking up disparate forms is quite problematic, try making the forms yourself. First, decide what it should be – maybe animals, maybe people, etc. Next, start making the mold. For her, you need salted dough.
Take:
- 1 tbsp table salt
- 1 / 2 cups flour
- 30-60 g of plain water
Knead the dough. It should be flexible enough and at the same time not stick to your hands. Take children’s toys, such as the rubber pig from the animal kit. Place it on the dough and press into it. The pressure depends on how voluminous the figure you want to get. Then take out the toy and fill the mold with chocolate. For a little, literally a couple of minutes, hold it on the kitchen table, and then put it in the refrigerator. This is also necessary so that the chocolate freezes and the dough does not dry out. This will keep it soft and easy to remove without damaging the resulting figure.
