Chlorchinaldin for bacterial skin infections. How does the ointment work?

Chlorchinaldin is an ointment preparation intended for topical treatment. Available by prescription, it is used in patients with bacterial skin infections.

Chlorchinaldin – action

Chlorchinaldin is an ointment whose action is related to the presence of the active substance. Chlorchinaldol is a decontaminant that belongs to the group of quinoline derivatives. Therefore, the preparation has antibacterial, antifungal and antiprotozoal properties.

Chlorchinaldin – purpose and dosage

Chlorchinaldin is a preparation that is used in the case of:

  1. purulent inflammation of the skin of bacterial origin,
  2. mucositis caused by bacteria sensitive to the active ingredient.

Dosage

Use the ointment as prescribed by your doctor. A thin layer of the preparation should be applied to the affected areas. It is recommended to use 2-3 times a day.

Chlorchinaldin – contraindications to use

The Chlorchinaldin leaflet informs about contraindications to use. The ointment should not be used in the case of:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. children under 12,
  3. women in the first trimester of pregnancy,
  4. varicose leg ulcers.

The ointment cannot be used long-term or prophylactically.

Chlorchinaldin – warnings

Chlorchinaldin ointment warnings:

  1. the preparation is intended for external use only,
  2. it is recommended to protect the eyes and mucous membranes (except for the nasal mucosa),
  3. in the event of a rash, skin irritation or itching, stop using the ointment,
  4. if symptoms do not disappear after a few days, contact your doctor.

Chlorchinaldin ointment may interact with other medications. It is not recommended to apply the drug in the case of simultaneous intake of quaternary ammonium compounds and preparations containing metals or iodine.

Chlorchinaldin – side effects

Chlorchinaldin, like other preparations, can cause side effects. These are mainly local symptoms such as temporary skin irritation, itching, redness, contact dermatitis, excessive drying.

Chlorquinaldine – inside

  1. Due to the lack of safety data, the ointment should not be used during breastfeeding.
  2. The preparation does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or operate machinery / equipment.
