Vodka “Chizhik-Pyzhik” is an unusual product of the Buturlinovsky distillery. First of all, non-traditional souvenir packaging attracts attention. Porcelain damask is made in the form of a bright bird, and in itself serves as a wonderful souvenir. The content is no worse – vodka is made according to the original recipe from natural ingredients.
Historical reference. Buturlinovsky distillery was founded in 1901 in the city of Buturlinovka, Voronezh region. The enterprise began as a state-owned wine warehouse. During the revolution, the factory building was completely burned out, but in the 20s production was restored. In Soviet times, the plant produced more than 45 types of products, which were sold in all stores in the country.
After the 2008 crisis, the company was on the verge of bankruptcy, which was avoided with the direct participation of the state. In 2012, the plant underwent technical modernization, production capacity is designed to produce 2,5 million decaliters per year. Products are exported to Germany, Sweden, Italy and the Dominican Republic.
Production features
The recipe for “Chizhik-Pyzhik” was developed by the plant together with scientists from the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. In production, natural artesian water with a low content of iron and salts is used. Supplements are made from natural ingredients. Laboratory staff check the physical and chemical parameters of each batch of raw materials. Before bottling, vodka goes through a multi-stage filtration.
The presentation of vodka “Chizhik-Pyzhik” took place in Moscow at the international exhibition “Prodexpo” in 2011. The product attracted the attention of experts with its original design and was noted as one of the most extraordinary and memorable vodka brands.
Interesting Facts
- According to one version, the song about “Chizhik-Pyzhik” was not dedicated to a small bird at all, but to students of the Imperial School of Law, whose shape resembled bird plumage with its coloring. In addition, in winter, young people wore fawn hats and were regulars at drinking establishments on the Fontanka.
- The plant produced a limited batch of souvenir vodka for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Chizhik was decorated with the Russian tricolor, and a soccer ball was added to the figurine itself.

The classic variety is made in the best Russian traditions on the basis of Lux alcohol from durum wheat and corrected artesian water. The composition includes infusions of millet, linden flowers of the 1st plum, sugar and honey of light varieties. Natural ingredients give vodka a mild and pleasant taste with grainy notes. The drink is characterized by a perfectly transparent color and a sweetish honey aftertaste.
Remarkably bright and funny design of vodka. A ceramic siskin sits on a pedestal with lines from a comic song written on it. The container holds 0,5 liters of strong drink. Buturlinovsky distillery produces vodka “Chizhik” of a similar composition in a transparent glass container.
