Exotic Chinese pear grows well in summer cottages in the middle lane. Fragrant fruits and good winter hardiness have earned her well-deserved fame.
This plant is popular in Southeast Asia. “Nashi”, “sand pear” are just a few of its names. This pear has a firm, sweet pulp, more like an apple. Her fruits are from light yellow to bronze. The skin is covered with black dots. You can only eat ripe fruits, green ones can cause an upset stomach.

This culture tolerates temperate winters and drought well. It produces high yields and is disease resistant. A special advantage of this pear is its early maturity. Fruits from a young tree can be obtained in the second year.
Ripe pears contain many vitamins and are low in calories. This property allows the use of neshes in dietary nutrition. The pear is used for culinary purposes. Thanks to its firm pulp, it does not lose its shape during cooking and baking.
From more than 50 varieties in the middle lane, about a dozen species can be grown. The most winter-hardy, disease-resistant varieties were selected. These varieties include:
- “Olympic” or “Big Korean”. Her taste is sweet and sour, pears weigh about 200 g, the pulp is juicy. These fruits keep well. The ripening period for pears is mid-September.
- Hosu is a cold-resistant variety with sweet flesh. Bronze fruits are tough and will not be easy to cut. Self-pollinated pear, but additional pollinators are needed to obtain a large yield. The fruits ripen unevenly from mid-August to mid-September.
- “Kosu” has small fruits 130-160 g, but its advantage is early ripening. Already in mid-July to mid-August, you can feast on sweet yellow fruits. You cannot store it for a long time.
- “Morning freshness” is distinguished by small 100-150 g pears of bright green color. They appear in mid-August. The variety tolerates winters well and is disease resistant. Although it can partially pollinate itself, it should be planted alongside other Asian pollinators.
- “Dalnevostochnaya” is a hybrid of the Ussuri, Chinese and European trees. Fruiting from mid-August to early September.
All these varieties of Neshi can be grown in temperate climates, they are unpretentious, give good yields.
Growing a tree like a sand pear is easy. It is undemanding to the soil and tolerates frost well. Rich harvests and unusual pulp of aromatic fruits are used in exquisite dishes and homemade preparations.
