Children’s World on Lubyanka is closed for reconstruction

Detsky Mir on Lubyanka is closed for reconstruction

This was announced by Vladimir Yevtushenkov, chairman of the board of directors of AFK Sistema, in an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper. “The building will have to be recreated almost completely, it is in a deplorable state,” he said. Detsky Mir will retain its sales function, but the final format of the store is still unknown. According to Yevtushenkov, the area of the building will almost quadruple, and it is inappropriate to use it entirely only for children’s products. Several concepts are currently being discussed, the final decision will be made before the start of the reconstruction.

Earlier it was reported that after the reconstruction, the Detsky Mir will house an eight-hall cinema, an entertainment center, restaurants, as well as about 130 different tenant companies. It is also assumed that the exterior of the building, which was built 50 years ago, will remain unchanged, since in 2006 the department store received the official status of an architectural monument.
