Children’s toys will undergo psychological examination

But what if a perfect doll or, on the contrary, a creepy monster will cause irreparable harm to the child’s psyche?

Recently, news feeds are rich in various funny initiatives. For example, they were allowed to beat household members. But they are considering whether to cut the wings of the flight of the fantasies of especially inventive parents who call their children Lucifers and Princess Diana. This week, the Eurasian Economic Commission will decide whether or not to make special expertise for toys. No, not about the harmlessness of the materials from which they are made. And what about the potential harm to the child’s psyche. This should be done, as you understand, by psychologists.

On the one hand, the initiative seems to be understandable. Girls, in their quest to resemble the inhuman proportions of Barbies, fall into anorexia. Or they start to have an unhealthy interest in shopping, cosmetics and – oh my god! – to sex. Boys broadcast unbearable cruelty into space, killing monsters. Well, some parents, to be honest, do not like dolls from the “Monster High” series.

This “dislikes” is the other side of the coin. After all, all children are different. How to understand who the monster doll will dream of in nightmares, and who will entertain? Where is that criterion? After all, here, you see, it is more a matter of a child, and not of a doll. What if an expert psychologist just doesn’t like it when boys play toy soldiers? Well, his opinion is. Subjective.

“We need special laboratories for the examination of toys or testing centers, where appropriate experts must be accredited. But today not a single laboratory has such specialists “, – he quotes”Rossiyskaya Gazeta»Opinion of Antonina Tsitsulina, President of the Association of Children’s Products Industry Enterprises.

Psychologists themselves believe that an examination will not hurt. But it shouldn’t prohibit anything. Its task is rather to educate. Provide parents with information that a particular toy may affect the mental health of their child.

But businessmen are unequivocally against such an initiative. They believe that the introduction of a new examination will bring nothing but the rise in the price of toys, because you have to pay for the work of specialists. Considering that the price tag for toys still makes parents clutch at their hearts, the prospect is not very bright. Experts do not even exclude that many dolls and constructors will be inaccessible to children from poor families.

And further. Remember what toys we ourselves had. Some are very similar to humans, only without genitals. And some are downright creepy if you look at them from today’s toy stores. Almost all are extremely ingenuous. But we loved them. And none of my dolls in nightmares certainly appeared to me. Maybe Chucky. But that’s a completely different story.
