Children’s room interior, how to decorate a nursery

Renovation is rarely a pleasant experience. Therefore, I want to do it once, and then not think about it for at least several years. And here the main thing is not to make a mistake, so that you do not have to redo it literally in a couple of months.

How and with what to fill the free space, which furniture is more practical and safer, what can you save on, what colors to choose? There are thousands of questions, and they are all important. Yulia Zhidkova, designer of the children’s furniture factory Mamka, told Wday.ru how to create a unique image of a nursery and what typical mistakes should be avoided.

The color scheme in which the premises for the child are decorated affects his mood, behavior and psyche. Therefore, do not fall for the opinion that babies should be surrounded by a wide variety of flowers, and the more of them, the brighter they are, the better. After all, childhood itself is like a rainbow, cheerful and joyful. Not only clothes, toys, accessories are “painted”, but also furniture in its color scheme and variegation begins to compete with the walls of the room. Such a kaleidoscope, of course, may please the kid, but contemplating all this without damage to the psyche can be very short.

In the interior of a children’s room, it is best to avoid too saturated, flashy colors. For walls and furniture, pastel calm colors are well suited.

Yes, in a colorful room it is difficult for a child to concentrate and much more difficult to calm down. He often becomes restless, more nervous and irritable. But do not go to extremes and believe that if the room is decorated in gray-beige tones, then the children living in it will certainly grow up serious, calm and thoughtful. Imagine how boring it will be for them to grow up in such conditions! The child definitely needs to develop imagination, and bright and saturated colors (orange, red, blue) are the first assistants in this matter. You can and should use them, the main thing is to know when to stop.

A poster with the child’s favorite hero, his drawings in beautiful frames or photographs can become an effective touch. Another interesting solution is to organize a separate zone in the room, where you can create masterpieces with paints and felt-tip pens everywhere, even on the walls.

It is also important that the furniture you focus on has an unusual shape, for example, a wigwam bed or loft, a Moomin-style shelving unit, letters or houses.

Girls – pink, boys – blue

All over the world, they probably use a kind of gender formula: if a boy, then the color is blue or blue, and if a girl is necessarily pink. From birth, children are forced to put up with it. And if a particular child does not like the color that he is surrounded by against his will? After all, should he have the right to choose? Of course, up to a certain age, the baby simply cannot say anything himself, and the parents decide for him. But an older child should ask what color he would like to see his room. Here, by the way, parents can expect all sorts of surprises, the choice is extremely unexpected. But it is still not necessary to press and impose your opinion authoritarianly.

There should be light in the nursery – period. It’s great if there is a lot of natural light in the room. And, of course, there should be lamps in it – ceiling, wall, table, floor, cute, funny and cozy, illuminating every corner of the child’s room.

Wherever the baby moves, it should be light everywhere. Remember, many childhood fears are born in dark corners and shaded rooms. There always seems to be something terrible!

In addition, with the help of lighting, it is easy to change the atmosphere in the room – here it was business, with a bright light directed to the table, but now it’s time to relax, get ready for bed, and a cozy floor lamp is lit.

Don’t ask the child’s opinion

Another tip is to do it all together. Decide the key points, of course, for yourself. For example, find catalogs of quality furniture made from safe materials and place them in front of your child. Offer him to make a choice on his own: which bed he likes, which form of the rack he likes. Maybe a cute chest of drawers is just his type? Even if the child chooses the brightest model of all, you can do the rest in a neutral color.

The kid will be waiting for his magical gingerbread house, and he will become the most important object in the room, attracting attention. And if the child wants change and variety, you can always glue the toy box with a bright cloth or buy several colorful pillows on the bed.

Give your child a chance to be the designer of his personal space by only subtly helping him with advice. So that he can see the result of his ideas in advance, order a design project for the room. Experts will take into account all the wishes – both of the young creator and yours.
