Children’s night light: in the crib, wall, socket, lamp

Soft, soft lighting of the room at night will dispel children’s fears. The choice of a children’s night light depends on the age of the child, as well as on his character. Lamps for very young children are selected by parents, but with grown-up children it is better to consult at least about the figure that they want.

Nightlights for the little ones

While the child is small, he is not afraid of the dark and lighting is necessary, rather, for his mother. Caring for a baby in the dark is inconvenient, overhead light in the middle of the night is also not an option, and soft diffused lighting from a low-power light bulb allows you to navigate and does not irritate your eyes.

In this case, nightlights that are attached to the crib are convenient. They may be shaped to be attached to the crossbars, sometimes a strong tape is attached to the body, which securely fixes the device to the bed rail. Another option is a clothespin or bolted connection (usually made of durable plastic).

Most modern nightlights do not have incandescent bulbs, but LEDs. They do not heat up, shine for a very long time (thousands of hours), do not beat and consume little energy. Therefore, a children’s night light in the crib is usually powered by batteries. It’s convenient and safe. If you turn on the device only for lighting, the battery lasts for a long period, and the use of additional functions quickly “eats up” energy.

Clip-on mount option

For convenience, you can have another night light in the nursery – a table one. It can be placed near the changing table or in the place where the mother feeds the baby. It can turn on by touch. This is the best option: it is difficult to find the switch before you are fully awake. Touching the night light is much faster and easier.

Night lamps for older children

In early childhood, the child may be afraid of the dark. To make him feel calm, a children’s night light is required. One of the most attractive options for children is a luminous toy. It could be a cartoon character, a plush flower, a moon, a sun…whatever your child likes. LEDs are sewn into one of the parts of the toy, which emit a very dim light. But it is enough for the awakened child not to be afraid.

Among the toy nightlights, the leader in popularity is the turtle. She is also a projector of the starry sky at the same time. Holes are made in its hard shell, through which light comes out, reflected on the ceiling.

Another option is wall-mounted night lights in the form of a picture, sun, moon, star, animal … They can be hung near the bed or on the wall opposite – whichever is more suitable for the child.

Soft glow on the wall does not interfere with sleep

What is not very convenient is that such luminous paintings operate on 220 V. Hanging wires are not the best decoration, but they also carry a potential danger, although there are still plenty of wires in a modern home. Nightlights that are installed directly into the socket are deprived of this drawback. They are made of translucent plastic, LEDs are built into the body. While the device is connected to the network, it glows. There are models with a toggle switch, then the light can be turned on at will.

Several options for nightlights in the outlet

Many of the nightlights have an internal battery that ensures their glow for 12-18 hours (different models vary). These toys may have a charger base or they may be charged via a USB cord. This is more convenient than changing batteries, but you must not forget about charging, otherwise your baby will be left in the dark and may be frightened.

With a battery inside it is more convenient

Toys are no longer suitable for older children. Night terrors haunt both schoolchildren and even teenagers. Then children’s table lamps or sconces on the wall are suitable. They must be positioned so that the child can turn on the light at any time if necessary.

Both boys and girls will love the night light projector with movement. Some of them have interchangeable cartridges, which can change the figures displayed on the ceiling. There are models with the ability to change color, as well as traffic intensity, others may have a built-in radio and good speakers. In general, there are many types of different night lamps.

Additional functions

In addition to the main function – lighting – even the smallest device can have a number of additional features. Most of the time it’s music. Several melodies that are turned on forcibly (by a button) or automatically. When the music is automatically turned on, the device is triggered by crying, a lullaby is turned on. The music turns off some time after the crying stops.

The second option is a projector. Moving or still images appear on the ceiling. Looking at them, the child can fall asleep on their own.

There are also children’s nightlights with built-in thermometers and hygrometers (humidity meters). For small children, the normal state of the air is very important and the ability to control its parameters is far from redundant. The child should not be overheated or supercooled and a thermometer will help here. With excessively dry air in children, the mucous membrane dries up, crusts form in the nose, which greatly interfere with the baby. “Producing” these crusts is one of the most unpleasant procedures for babies. Normalizing humidity, you reduce them to a minimum.

It may be useful to adjust the intensity of the glow. It can be implemented in different ways – in simpler versions in the form of a regulator, in more “fancy” ones there can be tactile adjustment (by touching fingers).
