68% of children listen to the advice of grandparents, every third child trusts them with their secrets, and 75% prefer to discuss their future education and work with them.

Study leader Professor Ann Buchanan from the University of Oxford (UK) is confident in the positive impact of such communication on the mental development of children: «an older relative with whom you can calmly talk about the innermost makes the child’s life comfortable and gives a sense of well-being and security.»

* In a survey conducted by the London Institute of Education, 1596 children aged 11-16 took part.
