As soon as you enter the crèche, you only see her: the Musical Bubble®! A sort of blue and yellow igloo, this 2 m high half-sphere is at the heart of the space. Like the village square. From morning to night, the thirty or so children enrolled in this Cergy-Pontoise crèche evolve, get active and have fun in a world bathed in music. Besides, Eliana is not mistaken. As soon as she arrives, the mischievous little girl walks with a determined step towards the treasure chest and pulls out a tambourine that she will never leave for the morning. Claudia Kespy Yahi, the founder of the Cap Enfants nursery concept, is very happy. “The world is globalizing, exchanges are intensifying. Future adults will have to be trained to evolve in this new international environment. I wanted to offer children from an early age a place that allows an opening on the world and on the other, by developing their planetary perception both linguistic and cultural. And what is the universal language par excellence? The music ! »Hence the conception of this Musical Bubble® and its educational project around a musical journey to discover a different country each month:Finland, Madagascar, Mexico, Italy …

This month, let’s go to America!
American flag, Indian feathers, Statue of Liberty: the decor is set to accommodate the day’s activities. 10 hours. Like every day, the “grown-ups” (18 months and over) get together to sing the song of the month, which the team has learned and also sings with enthusiasm. This month “Little Sir Echo” is in the spotlight. “Learning a rhyme in another language is good. It keeps the ear and the brain open to sounds different from the mother tongue. But it would be artificial if the environment in which this language is spoken were absent. »So, when Timeo enters the Bubble and presses a big tactile circle, it is a jazz tune on the trumpet that comes out of the speakers in surround! Not an extract from a record, but a tailor-made tune for the occasion by Ruth, the musicologist and the house sound engineer. Janelle, Lalia and Evan come in and out, having fun taking turns pressing the buttons. Along the way, they discover the American anthem on the sax, dance to the traditional ritornello “Rig-a-jig-jig”… and watch, dumbfounded, the start of a rocket in real time. Impressive. There, we are really not far from NASA!
Like cowboys, we have lunch at the Saloon
Mealtime is approaching. The small group sits on a long bench for the ritual of the meal song, “The bus”, led by Frédérique, the director! We clap our hands in rhythm and we “get off the bus” to take turns washing our hands. Ready for lunch at the “saloon”. On the menu: carrot puree, meatloaf, American-style beef made from minced meat cooked in breadcrumbs. For dessert ? Orange… from California of course!
Barely seated at the table d’hôte, Tim whispers a little tune in his neighbor’s ear, then shhh! We have lunch in peace. This will also be the rule for the nap, mattresses placed on the floor in the soundproofed dormitory. Because silence is also music here! It is also the occasion of a “calm time” for the team which debriefs.
A pedagogy winner!
More vocabulary, more memory, better concentration, logic and capacity for abstraction… This is the result of the evaluation study conducted by researcher Chantal Caracci, doctor in psycholinguistics, to measure the influence of this musical pedagogy on the development of children who have it enjoyed since its inception 10 years ago compared to other children of the same age. Guided activity to discover new words
Upon awakening, the small troop finds Nicolas, CAP Early Childhood in his pocket. Head for the Bubble for a more directed activity, which gives full meaning to the concept: sound is now associated with the image, to better remember what we have just discovered. Dimitri, Laura, Liham, Léa and Lucie, followed by Lina, enter. We hear a grizzly growl and watch the brown bear move forward on the video screen. We are far from Winnie the Pooh and Baloo! The children are fascinated. The host alternates sound, image, both. The goal: for the child to guess what he hears, then name what he saw and heard. In english of course! Casually, the fun is enriching: “Whatever their social background, they all know the same vocabulary! “
