At 3 years old, the child’s menu should be as balanced and correct as before. It is a mistake to think that a three-year-old can eat everything without restrictions. Right now, gastrointestinal diseases may appear due to an excessive load of fatty, spicy or heavy foods. A child cannot eat such products.
An approximate list of dishes for a child of three years old
It is best to immediately paint the menu for the crumbs for a week. The main methods of food processing are cooking, including steaming, stewing, baking. Fried foods can be given, but rarely and in small quantities.
You can diversify the child’s diet as follows:

For the second – mashed potatoes or cauliflower, vegetable stew, necessarily a meat dish – meatballs, beef stroganoff, zrazy. Bread – 80 g. Supplemented with compote or juice.
- Afternoon snack: kefir, yogurt, fermented baked milk, milk, jelly in combination with cookies, crust, raisin bun.
- Dinner: vegetable casserole or rice with dried apricots, scrambled eggs, potato zrazy with chicken, some bread. Drinks: tea, jelly, kefir, rosehip infusion.
Combine the options at your discretion, the main thing is that the baby’s nutrition is not monotonous – this way he will receive the substances necessary for growth in full.
Make sure that the dishes are not repeated at different meals: if there was buckwheat for breakfast, then it should not be for lunch and dinner.
What should not be given to a child at 3 years old
The following foods are harmful to your baby and may be hazardous to your baby’s health:
- Fatty meat – goose, duck, pork.
- Smoked products.
- Sweets, drinks, or snacks that contain artificial colors or preservatives.
- Hot spices, vinegar, mustard, horseradish.
- Mushrooms.
Establishing a diet is an important prerequisite for healthy digestion. Every day the child should eat at the same time, then the stomach will secrete digestive juice directly to the meal. A maximum deviation from the schedule of 30 minutes is allowed.
At this age, children move a lot. To conserve energy, they need an average of 1600 kcal per day. Do not get carried away with sweets, give preference to marmalade, marshmallow or pastille, but not more than 60 g per day.
