Hyperactivity: origins and symptoms
Hyperactivity or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) would affect 5% of children in France. The origin of this disorder would come from a dysfunction of dopamine in the brain of the child. This serves as a neurotransmitter acting on its concentration. ADHD will manifest itself through various symptoms such as attention deficit, frequent distraction or even impulsiveness or even aggression.
How do you treat a hyperactive child?
If your rowdy child continues in its tracks when you have just told him ten times to calm down, do not insist any longer! Take a little break to save your patience and not make her feel like she’s constantly on her back (although often times it’s hard to do otherwise!). “Let go of the ballast”, so as not to increase your feeling of frustration and worthlessness. And don’t be tempted by blackmail, it doesn’t work!
Various activities to limit ADHD
It’s well known, hyperactive children have energy to spare, so do not hesitate to offer him ideas for manual activities, sports … which will go channel it and, in the same way, enhance it. And nothing prevents you, if you feel like it, to reward him for his efforts of behavior. But, in his daily ardor, your child does not always realize the danger, even if you have warned him many times of the possible risks of accidents at home, as outside. Better not to let your guard down!
You also need to breathe so as not to crack, it’s normal ! If you leave your child with loved ones for a few hours to decompress a bit, that doesn’t mean you are a bad mother. Take the opportunity to have fun (shopping, movies …), you will come back more relaxed and better equipped to face the behavior of your little bulldozer!
