What is the average height of a five-month-old baby by standards

The growth of a baby at 5 months is about 60-67 cm. At the same time, the growth of boys ranges from 61,1 to 67 cm, and girls – from 60,8 to 66 cm. With each month, the growth of the baby slows down a little. Usually, by the age of 5 months, the baby grows 13-15 cm.

The height of a child at 5 months is 60 – 67 cm

Each baby is an individual, and they all grow in different ways. Some children stretch out quickly, others slowly gain in height. In some periods, the growth rate increases, in others it decreases. After all, adults are all different too – slender, magnificent, tall, short. Also, children do not grow up in the same way. And if one baby has grown less in a month than the other, this is not at all a cause for concern.

What should be the normal development of children at 5 months

By this age, the baby not only grows up significantly, but also acquires many new skills:

  • He perfectly learned to roll over from tummy to back, and vice versa.
  • Lying on his stomach, he can raise his head high, resting on the palms of his straightened arms.
  • The kid loves to consider not only close objects, but also those that are in the distance. At the same time, he focuses his gaze well and can turn his head, following the object of observation.
  • He is already humming and babbling.
  • He plays cuckoo with pleasure.
  • Smiles and laughs, expressing his positive emotions.
  • Distinguishes between close and unfamiliar people well.
  • He can grab objects, throw them, hold them, shake them, taste them, touch them, pull towards him everything that interests him.
  • Pulls the handles over the bar, trying to sit down.

Do not be discouraged if any of the above is not yet available to your baby. Most likely, he will gradually learn everything. But if something bothers you, show the baby to a neurologist.

In addition, the hearing of a five month old baby improves, so he responds well to sound. He can turn his head in the direction from which the sound is coming from, he can flinch from an unexpected sound. Now it is very useful to talk to him: name objects, comment on your actions, sing songs and nursery rhymes, read rhymes.

If before this time the child had a squint, now it should go away. Some babies at this age have their first teeth erupted. Therefore, they often become restless, they salivate profusely. They try to scratch swollen gums, so they pull everything into their mouth.

The growth rate gives only an approximate assessment of the development of the baby. The growth of a baby depends on many factors. It is influenced by individual characteristics: genetic predisposition, past diseases, congenital pathologies.
