On May 10, in his social networks, Protsenko speculated about serious cases of coronavirus infection that require intensive treatment.
According to the head physician, only a small part of Kommunarka’s patients who needed artificial ventilation of the lungs went on the mend.
“125 completed cases of the use of mechanical ventilation have been analyzed. Successful weaning was only in 17 patients (13,6%), ”the doctor says on his Facebook.
Protsenko clarified that approximately 30% of patients on mechanical ventilation were placed in intensive care urgently, due to the severe form of the disease. The maximum age of connected devices is 94 years, and the minimum is 27 years.
Denis Nikolayevich also revealed that there are more men than women in the intensive care unit.
“The average age of patients is 64 years, of which 59% are men, and 41% are women,” the doctor writes.
