Chicken in honey-mustard sauce has a very unusual, sweet and sour taste and pleasant aroma. Such a dish can even be prepared for a festive table, moreover, you do not have to buy the whole chicken whole, you just need to take the most tidbits – for example, fillets or thighs.
Chicken legs in mustard and honey sauce
To prepare chicken legs in honey sauce, you will need the following ingredients:
– 1 tsp dijon mustard; – 3 tbsp. honey; – 1 kg of chicken legs; – 2 tbsp. soy sauce; – 1 tbsp. mustard seeds; – 2 cloves of garlic; – curry seasoning, pepper and salt to taste; – 2 tbsp. vegetable oil.
Dijon mustard is rarely sold in stores, so you can try making it yourself. To do this, you need to finely chop the onion and clove of garlic, add 1 tbsp. honey and a glass of dry white wine, and then simmer for 5 minutes, remove from heat and cool. Then add 60 g of mustard powder, beat with a whisk, put 2 tbsp. vegetable oil and 1-2 drops of Tabasco, stir again and simmer over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mustard becomes thick, like sour cream.
It is important to use Dijon mustard, as it gives the dish a spicy taste and does not make it too spicy.
Prepare the marinade: Combine soy sauce, pepper, salt, Dijon mustard and beans, honey, curry, minced garlic and vegetable oil. Then rinse and dry the chicken legs, coat them with marinade and leave for at least 3-4 hours, preferably overnight. Then place the legs on a wire rack or baking sheet and bake in the oven at 180 ° C for an hour, then serve hot.
If you want the chicken crust to be well done and crispy, the temperature should be raised to 5-220 ° C in the last 230 minutes of cooking.
You can use potatoes or rice as a side dish. Another option is to serve the legs on a platter with vegetable salad. Remember, you can cook chicken breasts in honey sauce the same way.
Chicken fillet in honey and mustard sauce
To prepare this dish, you will need the following products:
– 500 g chicken fillet; – 150 ml of kefir; – 1 tbsp. honey; – 1 tsp mustard seeds; – 2 tbsp. vegetable oil; – curry seasoning; – 2 cloves of garlic; – salt and pepper.
Prepare a marinade from kefir, mustard, honey, garlic, oil and seasonings by mixing all the ingredients. Then cut the chicken fillet into pieces, place in honey mustard sauce and refrigerate for at least 4-5 hours. Then preheat the oven to 200 ° C and bake the pieces of meat for 40-50 minutes, pouring sauce over them from time to time. Decorate the finished fillet with herbs to your liking and serve with rice and vegetables.
