Chicken and potato pie. Video recipe

The Slavs have always eaten pies, at least it is porridge and pies that are named in the oldest chronicles as part of the traditional table. The pie is still a guest of honor in the kitchen of a good hostess, and the most popular is perhaps the pie with potatoes and chicken.

A hearty and at the same time simple pie filled with potatoes and chicken fillet will be prepared even by the most inexperienced housewife. The dough for such a pie can be bought in the store, or you can cook it yourself.

For the dough you will need: – 1 kg of flour, – 3 eggs, – 50 g of dry yeast, – 0,5 liters of milk, – 100 g of margarine, – salt, sugar.

Mix dry yeast with 2 tablespoons of sugar and add a little (no more than 2 tablespoons) of warm water. In a couple of minutes the yeast will “come to life” and fermentation will begin. Heat a little milk and pour into the yeast, leave for a couple of minutes, then add 2 cups of flour to the yeast solution and replace the dough.

Cover the container with the dough with a waffle towel and leave for an hour in a warm place. Then break 3 eggs into it, salt, pour in melted margarine. Move everything again thoroughly and add the remaining flour. The dough should not be steep, but it should easily fall behind the hands.

Determine the volume of potatoes and chicken fillet yourself, depending on your preferences: someone loves vegetables, and someone prefers a rich meat taste. One secret: do not take too fatty meat, give preference to white sirloin.

Cut the chicken fillet into small cubes, salt and pepper, layer the onions cut into large rings, and leave to marinate for half an hour or an hour. If you are not sure about the juiciness and freshness of the meat, you can add a little mayonnaise.

Cut the peeled potatoes into 0,2-0,5 cm circles. Salt, pepper and leave in a sealed container for no more than 10 minutes (otherwise the starch will darken). During this time, the root crop will give juice, it will need to be drained.

Roll out half of the dough so that the size of the layer is slightly larger than the size of the baking sheet. Place on a greased baking sheet and shape. Lay a layer of potatoes on the very bottom, a layer of onions cut into rings on top, then a layer of meat. Make a layer of potatoes – onions – meat again. You should not make a cake too high, the flaky composition may not bake.

Pour some sunflower oil evenly over the layers that have already been laid and, after rolling out the remaining dough, cover the cake. Secure the edges carefully. Brush the top of the pie with egg white with a cooking brush and send to the oven.

You need to bake at a temperature of 200 degrees for half an hour.
