The cherry plum tree has a dense spreading crown and a short stem. It is classified as a medium-sized plant, but some specimens can reach considerable heights. The oval leaf plate is elongated and narrowed at the end. Its smooth glossy surface is painted in a delicate shade of green. Fruits are formed on shoots and bouquet branches. Each bud is capable of forming up to 4 flowers.
Cherry plum “Gift to St. Petersburg” is famous for its large size of fruits. Their weight can be up to 15 g. They have a rounded shape and rich yellow-orange color. The skin is very thin. The fibrous pulp is appreciated for its mild sweet taste and delicate unobtrusive aroma.

Cherry plum is undemanding to the quality of the soil. She is able to take root in any soil. The branches and roots of the seedling must not be dry. Specimens with a developed root system are suitable for planting. The roots must be at least 10 cm long.
The disadvantage of hybrid cherry plum is self-fertility. Therefore, it is important to pre-plant pollinators that contribute to the formation of the ovary. It is recommended to grow various varieties of cherry plum as pollinators.
Planting can be done in a well-lit area, protected from strong drafts. Caring for a tree involves:
- Watering – done only in the summer season. It is enough to water the tree once a month. The plant is hygrophilous, so watering should be intense. The volume of water is 40–50 liters.
- Top dressing is applied to the planting hole for the first time. In the future, annual fertilization will be required only after 3 years.
- Pruning – in the summer, the branches are shortened by 20 cm, which allows you to get new shoots. To prepare for winter, braces are installed on the branches.
Cherry plum berries ripen unevenly. During the season, the crop can be harvested several times.
Cherry plum is resistant to pests and fungi. It takes root well in any area. Taking care of a tree is easy.
