Their mass is about 15 g. The thin skin is colored red-purple. The pink flesh is firm and juicy. It has a pleasant sweet and sour taste. The columnar variety is self-fertile, therefore it is recommended to grow cherry plum varieties next to it:

  • “Traveler”;
  • “Anastasia”;
  • “General”.

Pollinators contribute to the formation of the ovary. It is not necessary to grow thorns and plums as pollinators.

Cherry plum columnar: cultivation

Cherry plum belongs to the southern plants. She is hygrophilous and prefers good lighting. When choosing a soil, you should pay attention to the moisture content and the absence of sand. Planting a seedling can be done in spring and autumn. A seedling for transplanting to a permanent place should be one year old.

Particular attention is paid to the condition of the crown and root system. They must be well developed and healthy. Seedlings with dead branches and root shoots are not suitable for planting

The depth and diameter of the planting pit is 60 cm.It is buried with soil with the addition of:

  • Superphosphate;
  • Potassium salt;
  • Of humor.

After planting, the soil is watered intensively. The tree takes root well in any area. It’s easy to take care of him. The plant requires regular, moderate watering, feeding and pruning.

Pruning should be done in the spring to form new shoots, and in the fall to prepare for winter. You can shorten the branches by no more than 5 buds. Young plants can be fenced to withstand frost.
