One of the most popular procedures, due to its effectiveness, is rethion peeling. The rubric editor Natalya Udonova found out its features and advantages.

Chemical peeling of the face

Alina Pirogova, a specialist at the Danishchuk Clinic, spoke about the method of using rethionic acid. According to the expert, this peeling has practically no competitors. The procedure helps to rejuvenate the skin, increase tone, lighten age spots, cure acne, eliminate post-acne elements, and at the same time, it is indicated for sensitive skin with superficial vessels. The point is in a special technique that American scientists developed a few years ago. They suggested choosing the depth of the peeling depending on the type of skin aging.

How is the skin divided by types of aging?

So, for young skin with a small percentage of pigmentation, superficial peeling is sufficient. Medium chemical peels, erbium laser and dermabrasion are suitable for skin with obvious expression lines, pigmentation and an initial degree of solar keratosis (skin tightening). If the wrinkles are already quite deep even at rest of the skin, deep peeling and erbium laser are recommended. And finally, in the case when the entire skin is covered with wrinkles, deep chemical peeling, laser resurfacing, injectable fillers in combination with skin tightening are required.

Why are retinoids interesting?

The main component of the peeling composition is retinoic acid (often called retinolic acid). Another popular name is yellow peeling, due to the color of the composition that is applied to the patient’s skin.

Peeling promotes skin regeneration, promotes cell division and cell reconstruction. In the deep layers, it strengthens the walls of blood vessels, regulates the work of the sebaceous glands, and stimulates the synthesis of collagen and elastin. Histological studies have shown that the process of improving the quality of the skin occurs within 4 months after the procedure.

How is the procedure?

Classic retinoic peeling is a one-time procedure (it is divided into two days), which is carried out 1 – 2 times a year. The procedure takes 4 hours. The application of the composition is carried out in several stages, while the doctor controls which zones should be treated less intensively. On the second day, the scheme is repeated. After peeling, moderate peeling of the skin is observed for 3-4 days, redness and swelling are possible, which disappear within 5-6 days.

Contraindications: it is not recommended to carry out this type of peeling for patients with severe somatic diseases, especially with liver failure, pregnant women, during lactation, with herpes, dermatological diseases and with individual intolerance to the components.
