Check why you are not losing weight. Surprising research results

It turns out that a slimming diet is a more difficult matter than it seemed before. Many people encounter a situation in which a miracle diet designed to help lose weight does not give any results. We feel the greatest consternation when one of our close friends has lost a lot of weight using the same tips. Then we start to wonder why it doesn’t work for us, or are we doing something wrong?

Recent studies have produced a surprising result that explains this phenomenon. Diet turned out to be a completely individual matter – what causes your friend to lose weight, does not have to cause the same in you. Each body metabolizes food differently. Based on an Israeli study, which involved measuring the blood sugar levels of 800 people daily, it was shown that after eating the same product, one person’s blood sugar level increased beyond measure, while in another it remained at the same level. The discovery is so important that products with a low glycemic index are the main element of any slimming diets and aimed at people with diabetes.

This leads to several important conclusions that explain the problems with losing weight in most people:

  • Patients react differently to the menus assigned to them.
  • It turns out that there is a possibility that the approach to the diabetes and obesity epidemic has so far been based on incorrect assumptions.
  • While some people are overweight due to overeating and inactive lifestyles, some people who are overweight or diabetic suffer because they follow the wrong dietary guidelines.

The study consisted of collecting and monitoring the health of 800 people. Each of them was thoroughly examined – body measurements were taken, stool samples were taken, sugar levels were measured. Thanks to mobile applications, their lifestyle was also monitored. Each participant ate the same meal, which was breakfast. It turned out that their sugar levels did not rise equally. What’s more, in some people, a significant increase in its level in the blood was observed when consuming products with a low glycemic index. For example, in an obese woman who ate tomatoes, spikes in blood sugar were recorded after each meal enriched with this ingredient.

According to current knowledge, a diabetic diet should consist of low-calorie products. However, it is often noted that it should be arranged individually, depending on age, sex, height, weight, physical activity and medications taken. It is recommended to limit egg yolks and offal in order not to exceed the daily cholesterol intake. Certainly, alcohol and sweets should be limited, because they cause an increase in glucose and cholesterol levels.
