😉 Welcome new and regular readers! Gentlemen, we are all buyers, and we, the gullible, are sometimes deceived. The article “Cheating a customer in a store: revelations of a former salesperson” is useful information. How they cheat at the bazaar – we already know, today we will go to the hardware store.
Buyer cheating
Let’s analyze simple schemes of tricks that are aimed at ensuring that you purchase exactly the product that the seller “needs”, and not the buyer.
This is used in stores where the owner has an intention to sell what is profitable to him. You will not find this in shops owned by foreigners. And you really have every chance to buy a quality item that you like.
How does this happen?
To begin with, I will describe the ways to minimize the buyer’s choice, and then how to recognize it. There are not so many effective schemes, however, they all greatly influence the mind of the buyer.
First, the salesperson tells you that the equipment is “missing”. For example, there is no remote control, no antenna – it seems unimportant, but spoils the impression. Everything is very simple here – you say that it doesn’t matter, or you say – let them put in a universal remote control, or a separate antenna. You will see right away – there is an “incomplete”.
Sometimes “the product is not certified” – this is said by very stupid sellers, or to whom they have not explained how to dare an “inconvenient client”. Trade in non-certified goods is prohibited in the Russian Federation and it threatens traders with huge fines – do not pay attention.
There is another option – “the showcase model remained” – not very good. However, if the equipment is on display and works, it means that it is of high quality. For no one would put equipment that breaks down every other day on the showcase, and your guarantee will go from the date of purchase.
How to determine that your choice will be sidetracked?
I will reveal the secret of how the “assortment” is created from the side of the store. Everything is simple here. There are 3-5 popular models, for example, TVs. They are stacked in warehouses and they will always be enough for you. And there are 20-30 more models, which are purchased by 1 piece and create the appearance of a choice. They are only in the window and they will definitely not be sold to you.
Now how to see it – the scheme is also quite simple, there are only a couple of options:
- The model you need is high above or below – the ones you need for sale are always at eye level – this is a well-known technique.
- Your model on the price tag after rubles costs, for example, 30 kopecks, while those on sale – 20 kopecks. It seems to be an imperceptible detail, but it is like a “brick” sign to the seller – it is NOT possible to sell
That is, if you see this, and then talk about “shortage” or something similar begins, they are definitely trying to cheat you.
There are several ways out – unwaveringly stand your ground or go to another place and buy there. By no means listening to the arguments of the sellers who lead you astray.
A true seller, over whom there are no installations, will simply approve of your choice. Or he will advise something from his own experience, trying to back up the arguments you understand.
How sellers cheat: shortcuts
Miscalculation is a common deception. Counting in his head, a counter worker can easily increase the total amount by adding a dozen or a hundred rubles, depending on the purchase price.
Sellers do the same with a calculator. Here the N sum is pre-entered into the calculator’s memory. And, when calculating the total amount, the key for summing up with memory is imperceptibly pressed – the calculation has taken place. 1: 0 in favor of the seller!
If you received change in small bills – do not be too lazy to count! Enjoy the shopping!
