Charging for memory: how to stop forgetting everything

Don’t remember your appointment? Don’t know where the documents are? Leaving the house, do you remember for a long time whether the iron was turned off? In the modern rhythm of life, our memory often “fails”. The reason for this is overwork and monotony.

Every day we drive the same routes, visit the same places, communicate with the same people. And the brain does not receive any new information.

And memory … does it need to work if everything is the same again? Naturally, without training, she weakens. But there is a way to bring it back to tone. And for this it is not at all necessary to solve crossword puzzles and read encyclopedias for hours.

Business coach Alexander Belanovsky, author of the book “A Million on the Couch”, believes that in order to strengthen memory, it is necessary to wean the brain from being a “guard dog”. Surprise yourself with something unexpected and unusual. It is not difficult to do this: any deviation from the usual routine is a good “shake-up” for the body. So let’s start with new routes.

Step one: visit a new place, but only for 10-20 minutes

How to do it? Very simple: when returning from work, choose an unusual road. When you go shopping, go to a different store, and not to the one where everything is already known. The brain will definitely notice that something has changed.

Step two: go to an unfamiliar place for 2-3 hours

You can go to visit a friend who has moved to the other side of the city or go to a cinema where you have never been before. Or test a new cafe. You can go to those places where you have not been for a very long time: the well-forgotten old becomes new for our brain.

Step three: spend the whole day in a place you haven’t been before
