The Minister of Health changed the rules governing the use of teleportation. In the event that the patient makes the first visit to the doctor or is chronically ill, visits to the facility will be the standard, not telephone consultations. However, a visit to a specialist will not always be necessary. In what situations will contact by phone or via the Internet be sufficient?
- From March 15, teleporting will no longer be a standard in contacts with doctors
- The stationary visit will be the responsibility of, among others in the case of chronic diseases, suspected neoplastic disease and in a patient under 6 years of age
- Remote contact with a doctor will still be required when there is a suspicion of coronavirus infection
- Also in the case of issuing another prescription, referral for tests and discussing the test results, the appropriate form of contact will be a remote visit

When will teleportation no longer be used?
Health Minister Adam Niedzielski spoke about the changes in the provisions on teleporting at a press conference on Friday, March 5. – It is now time to restore normal treatment, teleporting should be one of the methods of contacting the doctor, but not the dominant one – he announced then.
– In situations where a person experiences a certain ailment for the first time, then he absolutely has the right to see a doctor, not in the form of teleportation, but a personal visit – he said.
The amendment to the regulation on the organizational standard of teleporting in primary care was published in the Journal of Laws on Monday, March 8. The regulations will enter into force 7 days after the announcement, i.e. on March 15.
What will change?
In what situations will teleportation not be used?
- when the patient has the first visit to the GP, nurse or midwife.
- when you have a chronic disease and your condition worsens or your symptoms change.
- when a patient is suspected of having cancer
- if in other cases the patient or his / her guardian does not consent to it being held remotely.
- when it concerns a child up to 6 years of age.
In the latter case, an exception was introduced. Teleportation will be used when there is a “follow-up during treatment, determined by personal examination of the patient, which can be given without physical examination”.
- According to GPs, teleporces revealed that we are technologically handicapped, irresponsible and that we often lie
Remote medical consultation will continue to be used in cases where there is a suspicion that the patient is infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Teleporting – when is the best option?
Many patients during the coronavirus pandemic “postponed” necessary visits. This is a dangerous phenomenon, especially in oncological diseases, chronic diseases, cardiovascular diseases or related to strokes.
- Changes to teleports. How long will we wait?
However, there are situations where a visit to the facility is not necessary, and remote consultation is a more appropriate or convenient option.
The Independent Team of Experts “Continue Curatio” worked in October last year to create a list of cases where teleportation or online consultation is a sufficient form of contact with a doctor. It includes representatives of various specialties, including diabetology, cardiology, oncology, paediatrics, allergology and gastrology.
What conclusions did they reach?
According to their recommendations, remote advice is sufficient when dealing with:
- with the next prescription
- control of previously prescribed therapy
- a referral for research
- discussion of research results
- issuing a sick leave.

Telemedicine is becoming more and more popular
It is worth using this form of consultation with specialists – it saves time. Remember that in this way you can also take advantage of the advice of specialists from all over Poland, without the need for a long and costly journey.
Telemedicine is becoming more and more popular. Nothing unusual! We can use online consultations on weekends and holidays, when traditional facilities are closed. This is very useful especially for parents – disturbing symptoms in a child can be discussed with a specialist right away. But this is not the only group for whom remote visits are a breakthrough in the use of healthcare.
Advice over the phone or the Internet is appreciated by women who want to extend the prescription for contraception or get a prescription for emergency contraception – it is a convenience and time-saving.
Remote visits are invaluable for patients who use psychologists and psychiatrists. In just a few moments, they can call their doctor and get expert advice.
