“Everyone wants something to happen, and everyone is afraid that something will happen” – this phrase of the poet and musician Bulat Okudzhava perfectly characterizes our attitude to life changes. We suggest recalling films that prove that we should not resist change.
1. “My boyfriend is a psycho”
“You have to do the impossible. You have to work hard. And if you succeed, you are positive, you have a ray of hope.
Bradley Cooper’s character is released from a mental institution where he spent eight months. By a court decision, he is forbidden to meet with his wife, so the hero asks his friend (her role was played by Jennifer Lawrence) to give her a note. The girl agrees on the condition that he will participate with her in a dance competition. And so, without noticing it themselves, the characters fall in love with each other and acquire this “ray of hope” that changes their lives forever.
2. Larry Crown
“It’s never too late to start living.”
The film “Larry Crown” was completely created by Tom Hanks: he acted as a director, screenwriter and producer. He also played the main role in the film, making up a couple of Julia Roberts. Hanks’ character is a successful executive at a company who gets fired because he didn’t get a higher education. In complete confusion, he nevertheless decides to start all over again and go to college. And there he meets the heroine Julia Roberts, who played his teacher. This film proves that you can start all over again at any age, the main thing is that there is a desire.
3. “10 steps to success”
“Here is our agreement: “We will live and work. It’s only begining”.
The film “10 Steps to Success” was released in 2006 and, unfortunately, passed by the mass audience. This is an amazingly kind film with Morgan Freeman, who played a famous actor in the tape. Previously, he starred in box office films, but for several years now he has stopped receiving job offers. Because of this, he decides to take on a role with an unknown director in a low-budget film. And he does not even realize how much this difficult decision for him will change his life.
4. “Regions of darkness”
“Few people know what it’s like to become the perfect version of yourself…”
Remember the myth that we only use 10 percent of our brains? The film presents its own version of what would happen if a person were able to use all the possibilities of the brain system. The main roles in it were played by Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper, whose hero shows that the one who maximizes the efficiency of the brain becomes almost omnipotent. It is really interesting to watch how a person’s eyesight and hearing become sharper and how much their abilities increase. However, it is worth noting that this theory is considered unscientific – many studies have proven that there are no inactive zones in the human brain.
5. “Frozen from Miami”
– Would you like to light a fireplace?
— No, even though I’m from the city, I’ll be able to make a fire… Where does it turn on?
In this romantic comedy, Renee Zellweger plays a career woman for whom the most important thing in life is work, which replaces all the joys of life for her. She receives an important task – to improve production at one of the factories. And only after she gives her consent, the management reports one detail: in order to accomplish this task, the heroine needs to leave the hot Miami for a small American city, which is famous for the coldest winters in the United States. She goes there, anticipating all the horrors of such a life, but everything turns out in a way that she could not even imagine.
6. Slumdog Millionaire
“It’s meant to be.”
Directed by Danny Boyle, the film about a guy from Bombay was a huge success at the global box office and was awarded eight Oscars at once, including the main one for the best film of the year. According to the plot, the hero takes part in a famous program (analogous to “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”), during which the viewer learns the story of his life and love. Often he recalls really terrible events that completely changed his life. But in the end, it is thanks to all these changes that the hero finds the long-awaited happiness.
7. “We. We believe in love”
“The world took up arms against her, but she did not back down. And she survived.”
Directed by Madonna, this film is about one of the biggest love scandals of the last century. About how the British king Edward VIII abdicated in order to marry Wallis Simpson – a simple woman, moreover, twice divorced. They say that Edward never regretted his decision, which turned his whole life upside down. He owns the words: “I found it impossible … to fulfill the duties of the king without the help and support of the woman I love.”
