Champagne Bollinger: an overview of taste and types

History of Bollinger in Brief

The history of the famous brand Bollinger has almost two centuries. Back in 1829, Jacques Joseph Bolanger became interested in the production of sparkling wines with a light suggestion from the titled relative of Count Villermont. A small factory in the little-known city of Ai appeared long before that. However, members of the Bolange family brought him real fame.

Madame Lily is considered the most eccentric representative of the family. This enterprising woman, having taken up the manufacture of champagne, saved France and the whole world from prejudices that ranked winemaking as an exclusively male craft.

Today, the house of Bolanger is one of the top ten producers of elite sparkling wines. Excellent quality is recognized not only by the largest experts in the field of winemaking, but also by the royal court of Great Britain.

The secret of a particularly delicate taste and delicate aroma

It consists in using selected grapes from our own plots and maintaining time-tested traditions:

  1. For the manufacture of champagne, only the must of the first pressing, the so-called cuvée, is used.

  2. Primary fermentation takes place in small wooden barrels, where the wine “rests” and fills with bubbles for at least three years (vintage varieties – much longer).

  3. Champagne bolange contains almost no additional sugars, which allows you to keep the natural taste.

Overview of the taste and types of Bollinger Champagne

Under the Bollinger brand, several varieties of wines are produced, each of which deserves attention and is intended for a certain group of connoisseurs:

  1. Special Cuvée

It is considered a classic, but the drink is far from simple. This long-aged wine has a rich golden color and a velvety soft taste. It is dominated by apple-pear shades, aromas of spicy spices, peaches and nuts. It is recommended to serve as an aperitif before dinner.

  2. The Great Year 2007

“Excellent Year” is a mature wine with a long aftertaste. In the aroma, you can catch honey, cinnamon, light notes of dried fruits, almonds and hazelnuts. The combination of confectionery creamy shades with subtle sourness and a touch of bitterness gives the drink an exceptional, memorable taste. To appreciate it, it is recommended to serve La Grande Année chilled to 10 degrees. This type of champagne is included in the mandatory menu of elite restaurants, hotels and is an indicator of the high status of the establishment.

  3. The Great Rosé Year 2007

A soft coral-colored drink with the aroma of currants, dried flowers and mint. On the palate, the sweetness of juicy plums and green-herbaceous notes are clearly distinguishable.

  4. Bollinger Rosé

“Fresh like a rose, balanced like a Bolanger.” Wine of bronze-red color with berry aroma. On the palate – a combination of cherry-strawberry shades, softness of red currant and light spice.

  5. Bollinger RD 2004

Known as James Bond’s favorite champagne. It was this drink that Agent 007 preferred and savored it with pleasure in between investigations. Straw-gold color with soft reflections, the union of lemon bitterness and softness of honey, easily perceptible fruity shades. The aftertaste is a composition of notes of cocoa, anise and nutmeg. Tasters characterize the wine as powerful, balanced, with a persistent aroma. Before the release of the next action movie with James Bond, the house of Bolanger released a limited batch of Bollinger 007 – 207 bottles in the form of a metal bullet.

  6. Old French Vines 2007

Champagne rich golden color with a deep, rich taste: a combination of sweet and sour citrus notes and gingerbread confectionery. The finish is long, enveloping – southern spices and cinnamon. The aroma is multifaceted: it lures with light floral shades, deepens with the juiciness of truffle, and ends with a sweet plume of acacia honey.

Each drink of the brand is revealed differently, but Bollinger wines are united by consistently high quality and richness of taste.
