Chamomile infusion for babies: how to cook?
Chamomile has anti-inflammatory, wound healing, sedative and analgesic properties and has practically no contraindications. That is why the infusion from it is widely used in pediatrics, including for the treatment of infants.
Infusion of chamomile for a child
Chamomile infusion has a pleasant taste and has a healing effect in the treatment of various diseases in infants. Most often it is prescribed for:
– indigestion; – colds accompanied by sore throat, runny nose and / or cough; – diseases of the oral cavity; – allergies; – dermatitis and other skin diseases; – infectious diseases.
In addition, chamomile infusion can be used for treating small wounds, washing and bathing a child, including a newborn.
Preparation of chamomile infusion from dried flowers
Chamomile attracts not only with its healing properties, but also with its availability. Flowers for the preparation of the infusion can be prepared independently or purchased at the pharmacy. For external use, it is best to use a concentrated infusion. To prepare it, you need 200 ml of water and a tablespoon of dried and crushed chamomile.
The grass should be poured into a glass or jar and covered with boiling water. Then the container must be covered with a lid and left to infuse for one to two hours. The finished broth has a rich yellow color and a pleasant aroma.
You can cook chamomile infusion not only in a jar or cup, but also in a thermos. This method allows you to cut the brewing time of the herb in half. In addition, such an infusion turns out to be richer and more useful.
Before use, the chamomile infusion must be filtered through a fine sieve or two-layer gauze, and the cake must be squeezed out. The resulting liquid can be used to wipe the baby’s skin, treat dermatitis, diaper rash, and wash a newborn girl.
Preparation of chamomile infusion from a filter bag
Chamomile infusion from a filter bag is much easier to prepare than from a dried crushed plant. If the integrity of the sachet is not violated, then in the finished infusion it is guaranteed that there will not be any inclusions of grass. That is why it is optimal to use it for internal use, for example, for colic, oral candidiasis (thrush), sore throat and sleep disorders.
To prepare the infusion, the filter bag will need to be placed in a glass with boiling water, cover with a lid and wait about an hour. During this time, the liquid will acquire a golden color and characteristic aroma. After the bag, you need to gently squeeze out and discard, and pour the infusion into a bottle. It is better to give it to your baby 20-30 minutes after feeding. If the baby refuses the bottle, you can drink it from a spoon, and from six months of age – from a sippy cup or cup. Also, the prepared infusion can be used to wipe the baby’s gums to soothe the pain during teething.
