It is important not to confuse blackberry raspberries with blackberries! In most Russian-language sources, Chambord is referred to as blackberry liqueurs, in fact it is raspberry.

History

The Chambord brand was registered in 1982, but the drink itself appeared much earlier. According to legend, its name is associated with the castle of Chambord – it was there that King Louis XIV first tasted the original liqueur and contributed to its distribution at court.

Then, for some time, the recipe was almost forgotten (although it remained popular locally, in the vicinity of the castle), until the American winemaker NG Sky Cooper, who moved to France, set up industrial production in the 1980s.

Technology of preparation

The drink is made in three stages:

  1. Fresh ripe berries are soaked in alcohol. Four weeks later, another portion of alcohol is added to the tincture and left for 15 days, then the berries are crushed. The liquid part is the base of the future Chambord.
  2. Cognac, vanilla, other ingredients, spices and herbs are added to the base. The exact composition and proportions of the ingredients are the secret of the manufacturer. The semi-finished liquor is insisted for some time so that all tastes are harmoniously mixed.
  3. Blending masters combine several spirits with different aging periods to achieve the most harmonious and balanced bouquet.

Chambord liqueur is produced in a recognizable “pot-bellied” bottle with a golden “belt” and a “crown” cap. The brand’s slogan was “Because no reason” (“but just like that”).
