Cepan cream is intended for topical application to the skin. Its composition includes, among others chamomile and onion extract, as well as allantoin. How does it work on the skin? Cepan – characteristics and effects of use

Cepan is a cream that is applied topically to the skin. It contains four active substances: onion ethanol extract, chamomile extract, allantoin and sodium heparin, which have soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.

The main task of Cepan is to accelerate the regeneration of connective tissue while reducing the inflammatory reaction, as well as the feeling of burning and itching. The product makes the scar more flexible, shallow and paler.

The color of Cepan cream is yellowish. It has been closed in an aluminum tube with a capacity of 35 g.

Cepan – composition

In addition to the four active substances, Cepan cream contains auxiliary substances, which include:

  1. mixture of cetostearyl alcohol and sodium lauryl sulfate 4;
  2. liquid paraffin,
  3. white petroleum jelly,
  4. self-emulsifying mixture of mono and diglycerides of highly saturated fatty acids and potassium stearate,
  5. glycerol,
  6. methyl parahydroxybenzoate,
  7. propyl parahydroxybenzoate,
  8. Purified Water. 

Cepan – indications for use

The main indication for the use of Cepan cream is the topical treatment of scars and keloids that appear after burns and surgery. In addition, the preparation is used for:

  1. treatment of contractures,
  2. treatment of scars on the eyelids,
  3. treatment of acne scars,
  4. treatment of scars after boils,
  5. treatment of scar ulceration. 

Cepan – how should it be used?

Cepan cream should be used according to the doctor’s instructions or the information included in the preparation leaflet. It can only be applied after the wound has healed completely. Both children and adults can use Cepan, a thin layer of which is applied to the wound 2-3 times a day, gently massaging it in.

In the case of hardened scars and contractures, it is best to apply a small amount of the cream on a sterile gauze pad and then apply it to the skin for 30-60 minutes.

Treatment with Cepan usually lasts from several to several weeks depending on the age of the scar.

Cepan – contraindications to use

The main contraindication to the use of Cepan cream is hypersensitivity to any active or excipient substance of the drug. In addition, in the event of hypersensitivity (redness, itching) at the site of application of the preparation, stop the treatment immediately and see a doctor.

Cepan – recommended precautions

The recommended precautions mainly apply to the use of Cepan cream on scarring of the eyelids, as the product should not get into the eyes.

In addition, it should be remembered that the drug contains cetostearyl alcohol that can cause allergic skin reactions, including contact dermatitis. Methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate are also responsible for allergic skin reactions. Cepan, however, has no influence on the operation of machines and driving of vehicles.

Cepan – side effects of use

Redness and irritation of the skin may occur when using the drug. However, these symptoms appear extremely rarely. However, if they occur, Cepan should not be used until they have completely subsided.

Cepan – how to store the drug?

Cepan should be kept out of the reach and sight of children. It is best to choose a room with a maximum of 25 degrees C. Store the ointment in its original packaging. After the expiration date, the drug can not be used. However, it must not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. It’s best to ask your pharmacist how to dispose of Cepan.
