Center for psychological assistance to pregnant women in Moscow

As reported by the Interfax agency, the Moscow authorities have decided to create a center for psychological assistance to pregnant women wishing to have an abortion.

A center will be created in Moscow to provide psychological assistance to pregnant women, including minors, with the aim of preserving the family, as well as preventing abortions and abandoning a child in maternity hospitals.

“The Department of Health has transferred the Orphanage to us. This is a good building, where we organize a service for pregnant women, pregnant minors to preserve the family, as well as to protect them from the use of abortions, abandoning a child after birth in maternity hospitals, ”said Lyudmila Guseva, head of the Moscow Youth Policy Department, at a meeting on Wednesday dedicated to the protection of the housing rights of orphans left without parental care.

At present, despite the noticeable successes of the contraceptive revolution and a significant reduction in the number of abortions, as evidenced by official statistics, artificial termination of pregnancy continues to be the main method of birth control in Russia.

Russian abortion legislation is still considered one of the most liberal in the world. This is indicated even by the so-called “modernist demographers” – scientists who do not consider depopulation (population decline) to be something negative.

In our country, it is possible to terminate a pregnancy without explaining the reasons for up to 12 weeks. After this period, abortion is allowed for medical reasons, as well as for some social reasons. Moreover, artificial termination of pregnancy in Russia is included in the list of services provided within the framework of compulsory health insurance, which implies state funding for each abortion.
