Bacteria that are not resistant to the substance of the drug include: S. agalactiae, S. aureus, green streptococci, S.pneumoniae, i.e. gram-positive aerobes. Gram-negative aerobic bacteria that are not resistant to the antibiotic include: N. gonorrhoea, N. meningitidis, H. parainfluenzae, B. burgdorferi, P. mirabilis. How does Ceftriaxone work? What should the dosage look like? Do special precautions need to be taken during the treatment?

Ceftriaxone – action

Ceftriaxone is an antibiotic recommended for use in cases of infection with ceftriaxone-sensitive bacteria. These types of conditions include bacterial endocarditis, acute otitis media, complicated urinary tract infections, nosocomial and post-hospital pneumonia, and complicated skin and soft tissue infections. The drug is also used in the treatment of people diagnosed with gonorrhea or syphilis.

Ceftriaxone is also recommended in the treatment of advanced or early stage of Lyme disease. The antibiotic is also often used in preoperative prophylaxis. Ceftriaxone is prescribed in neutropenic patients who develop fever most likely due to a bacterial infection.

Before starting antibiotic therapy, proper and complete tests are necessary to confirm or exclude infection with bacteria that are resistant to ceftriaxone, in such a situation it is necessary to implement combination therapy with other antibiotics.

It should be remembered that the use of probiotics is very important during therapy.
