Ceclor MR – indications, contraindications, side effects

Ceclor MR is a systemic antibacterial agent. Beta-lactam antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. It is indicated in the treatment of chronic bronchitis, cystitis or dermatitis. Ceclor MR film-coated tablets are available on prescription.

Ceclor MR – indications for admission

Ceclor MR as a beta-lactam antibiotic is recommended in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria sensitive to cefaclor: acute bronchitis and exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections, including inflammation bladder and bacteriuria (bacteria in the urine) asymptomatic, inflammation of the skin and skin appendages.

Ceclor MR and contraindications

Contraindication to taking Ceclor MR is allergy to any of the ingredients or other cephalosporin antibiotics.

Dosage of Ceclor MR

Adults, including the elderly:

  1. Pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, infections of the skin and skin appendages – 375 mg twice a day.
  2. Infections of the lower urinary tract – 375 mg twice a day or 2 mg once a day.
  3. Pneumonia, sinusitis – 750 mg 2 times a day.

Kids:

There are no data on the safety of the preparation in children. For children, Ceclor granules are recommended for the preparation of an oral suspension.

Method of drug administration:

The drug should be administered orally. The tablets should be taken with a meal and swallowed whole and not divided, crushed or chewed. The doctor will determine the duration of the treatment. For streptococcal infections, the antibiotic should be taken for at least 10 days.

Ceclor MR – restrictions

  1. Be sure to consult your doctor and inform him if you have had allergic reactions to cephalosporins, penicillins or other drugs or allergens in the past.
  2. There is no information on the effects of Ceclor on the ability to drive and use machines.
  3. Long-term use of antibiotics may cause overgrowth of resistant bacteria and fungi (mainly yeasts).
  4. Pregnant women may use Ceclor MR if the doctor considers it necessary.
  5. Breastfeeding women should consult a physician before taking the drug, who will assess the risk-benefit ratio.
  6. Patients allergic to penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics are at increased risk of allergic reactions to cephalosporins, including anaphylactic shock (cross-allergic reaction).

Ceclor MR and possible side effects

Ceclor MR may cause, among other things: thrombocytopenia, transient leukopenia / neutropenia (decrease in the number of white blood cells / neutrophils), agranulocytosis, eosinophilia, positive Coombs test, rarely haemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, rarely cholestatic jaundice (mild increase in liver enzymes, hepatitis) AST, ALT), rarely interstitial nephritis, slight increases in blood creatinine and urea, abnormal urine tests, headache and dizziness, hallucinations, somnolence,
