What could be the causes of erection problems? Could these disorders be related to alcohol? What actions should be taken? Which specialist should you go to? The question is answered by the drug. Paweł Żmuda-Trzebiatowski.
What are the reasons for erectile problems?
Good day. I am addressing you with a rather embarrassing question. My name is Janusz and I am 31 years old. I have had erection problems for several weeks. So far I have been sexually active, had sex 3-4 times in a week and never had erection problems. Currently, in foreplay, my member is up to the task, but when I have to marry, he just goes down.
What could be causing this? Can alcohol affect these disorders? Recently I have been having a very nervous period at work and in the evening when I am at home to relax, I drink 1-2 beers. But is there any connection between erectile dysfunction and alcohol? The more so with such a small amount? What should I do? Which doctor to go to? It’s a bit strange for me to have erection problems after 30, after all I’m not old yet.
I am worried about my marriage, I would like to find the cause of my problem and get rid of it as soon as possible. Or maybe there are some home remedies for erectile dysfunction. I am asking for help, it is a very embarrassing situation for me. Regards.
The doctor indicates possible solutions to the erection problem
Dear Mr. Janusz, causes of erectile dysfunction there can be a lot. They are most often divided into organic, resulting from somatic damage, and psychogenic, most often resulting from disturbances in the emotional sphere.
The organic causes include diseases of the circulatory system, especially arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis. By narrowing the blood vessels, atherosclerosis disrupts blood flow, and it is known that penile erection occurs as a result of a significantly increased blood supply to the cavernous bodies of the penis. Other organic causes include hyperlipidemia, i.e. high blood fat levels, diabetes mellitus, which promotes the development of atherosclerosis, testosterone deficiency, hypothyroidism, metabolic syndrome and elevated prolactin levels, i.e. hyperprolactinaemia.
It should be remembered that neurological diseases can also interfere with achieving an erection, first of all, it is necessary to take into account multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or stroke. In the case of psychogenic causes, the main factors that disrupt erectile dysfunction are various types of anxiety and depression. Often, decreased libido also affects the difficulties in achieving an erection.
You mentioned the hard times you have been going through lately. Unfortunately, chronic stress and chronic fatigue combined with the abuse of various stimulants, including alcohol, can significantly impair erection. A sedentary lifestyle, smoking and obesity also have a negative effect on erection.
It is worth remembering that many commonly used drugs make it difficult to achieve an erection, first of all I mean antidepressants from the SSRI group, antipsychotics, diuretics, calcium channel blockers, statins and estrogens. The commonly used H2 blockers and hence proton pump inhibitors also have an adverse effect. It is also worth excluding problems that may result from an incorrect relationship with your partner, including conflicts, mistakes during intercourse or the partner’s lack of attractiveness.
