Allergies can take both the child and his parents by surprise. To quickly get rid of a problem, you must immediately identify its source. You can try doing this yourself before consulting your doctor.

Causative agents of allergies in a child

If your child looks healthy during the day, but sneezes, rashes, or other signs of allergies at night and upon waking, it is important to understand that the cause is in the bedroom. The most common allergens in the bedroom include bedding, dust and mold.

Sometimes children only experience allergy symptoms in kindergarten or school, but generally feel good at home. In this case, the allergen is most likely located in the child’s learning area.

If you notice that your child develops symptoms while visiting a friend’s or relative’s home, they may be allergic to something unique, such as smoking, pets, plants, etc. There is also a simple solution to prevent allergy attacks – not to visit these places or give your child an antihistamine right away.

Allergies to various foods such as peanuts, chocolate, milk, etc. are very common. Do not allow your child to consume these foods and make sure that adults in school or kindergarten are aware of what they are not allowed to eat.

In some cases, signs of allergies in a child or adolescent begin to appear at certain times of the year, for example, in the summer, and in other seasons they do not bother him.

Pay attention to the weather: if it is windy, the child may be allergic to pollen or plants that are common at this time of year when inhaling.

Allergies can also be to insect bites, animal hair, etc. In June, there is often a reaction to poplar fluff. Usually, in such cases, the symptoms do not go away around the clock or appear invariably after a walk.

The source of the allergy is sometimes very difficult to identify on your own. In this case, you must visit a pediatric or adolescent doctor. He will check the child to rule out the possibility of other diseases, and will carry out tests to identify the allergen, and then prescribe the appropriate antihistamines or steroids, if necessary.

The doctor may also recommend a special diet if the child suffers from food allergies.

If your child has mild allergic rhinitis, decongestant drops or sprays may help. To relieve irritation from allergic skin reactions, use an antipruritic lotion or cream on the rash. If you find out that a drug is causing your allergy, stop taking it immediately and consult your doctor.
