Debunking the myths associated with the summer berry.
Watermelon is one of the favorite foods on a hot summer day. It is believed that you can eat this berry almost without measure and still not get better. Many people are on a watermelon diet to quickly lose weight. But it turned out that watermelon is not useful for everyone.
Russian urologist Nikolai Zakharchenko in an interview with “FAN” listed the category of people who do not want to eat watermelons. According to the doctor, the berry is forbidden to be consumed by people who have kidney problems, namely sand and stones. Due to the pronounced diuretic effect, watermelon promotes increased discharge of sand and stones from the body, which provokes pain syndrome.
Moreover, the chief doctor of the First Channel, Elena Malysheva, also speaks negatively about the watermelon, she calls it a “cheating product”.
In one of her programs “Living Healthy”, Malysheva dispelled the myth that with the help of this berry you can quickly lose weight and cleanse your body. It turned out that the berry contains a large amount of sugar, and this certainly cannot contribute to weight loss.
In addition, watermelon has a high glycemic index – more than 80%, which means that the product does not satisfy hunger, but, on the contrary, increases appetite and will contribute to obesity.
According to Elena Malysheva, you can eat no more than 200-300 g of sweet berries per day without harming your figure.
