Serioles belong to the extensive genus of scads, which, in turn, belong to the perch-like order. Scad fish are represented by a large number of species (at least 200). Among them, one can note both medium-sized horse mackerels and two-meter serioles. Seriolas are a large group of fish of various colors and sizes. In appearance, the fish have similar characteristics: a torpedo-shaped body, laterally compressed and covered with small scales. The first short dorsal fin has several spines and a common membrane. The head is conical and slightly pointed. Serioles are fast growing active predators. They migrate following schools of small fish, but prefer warm waters. Even in the case of summer migrations following flocks of mackerel or sardines to northern waters, after a seasonal cold snap they return to warm seas. Serioles are pelargic predators, preferring collective hunting in the zone of the continental shelf or coastal slope. Keeps in small groups. Seriol fishing methods

Catching seriol on spinning

Serioles are inhabitants of warm seas. The habitat of these fish is located in the basin of the tropical and subtropical zones of the Indian, Atlantic, Pacific oceans. In Russian waters, seriole can be caught off the coast of the Far East, in Primorye and the southern part of Sakhalin. But the best yellowtail fishing is in the Japanese Islands and off the coast of the Korean Peninsula. Serioles live in the Mediterranean and Red Seas. Spawning
