Catching crucian on a spring: how to make tackle and fishing technique

This type of equipment is very effective when catching crucian carp, which can be learned from the statements of inveterate “crucian fishermen”. Despite its effectiveness, this equipment also does not require special costs.

Fishing time and types of springs

A crucian is caught on a spring in warm water, when its activity, in search of food, is maximum. But crucian carp, like any other fish, does not like heat, so you need to catch it either early in the morning or late in the evening. At this time, she comes out of her daytime hiding places and actively feeds.

You can find various designs of springs, as well as their sizes, and hence the weight. Choosing a suitable feeder, you need to consider the casting distance. The further you plan to throw the tackle, the heavier it should be. The spring can be fixed either rigidly or slidingly. In the case of a sliding fastening, a hollow tube must pass inside the spring, through which the fishing line is passed. It will not be superfluous if the spring is equipped with a tube – an anti-twist.

Existing snap-ins

There are two main options for attaching the spring to the tooling:

sliding mount option

For this fastening, you need to take a piece of fishing line, about 40 cm long and 0,3 mm in diameter. A loop is formed on one side of the segment, after which the fishing line is passed through a hollow tube. After that, the feeder is stopped, and a carabiner is attached to the loop. This attachment has a number of advantages, such as a quick change of the feeder and the ability to minimize hooks;

Blind mount option

This option involves attaching the feeder directly to the main fishing line. As a rule, the feeder is equipped with appropriate attachment points. Currently, even this method of fastening is not complete without fasteners and swivels, which allows you to quickly replace the “spring”. Leads with hooks can be attached to the spring itself or at the place where the feeder is attached to the fishing line.

The rod should be chosen depending on the conditions of fishing and the casting distance. Its length can be in the range of 2,5-3,5 m or more. The test load depends on the weight of the feeder and, when fishing in still water, and crucian carp is mainly caught in still water, it can be in the range of 40 g. A spinning reel can have a size from 2000 to 4000. The diameter of the fishing line can be from 0,25 to 0,3 .7 mm. Hooks – No. 8 and No. XNUMX.

Leashes

For leashes, it is better to use a braided cord, as it is more flexible. The use of ordinary fishing line is less justified, since it is more springy and will not be as effective. If you use a thicker fishing line, then it will scare away the cautious crucian. When using a spring, do not install long leashes. Lengths from 5 to 7 cm are quite enough and are dictated by the specifics of fishing with this tackle.

Spring making

You can make a spring of various designs and shapes. There are cylindrical, conical and curved springs, with and without a sinker, small and large. The smallest design is 2 cm long and 1 cm in diameter. The largest feeders are limited to 6 cm. These are the optimal limits beyond which it makes no sense to climb.

In order not to suffer from its manufacture, such a feeder can be bought in stores for anglers. As practice shows, home-made designs made by experienced “cutters” are more catchy. This is due to the accumulation of certain knowledge, which allows you to make a more successful design that takes into account all the subtleties of fishing.

Bait crucian

The spring is a special design of the feeders that should be filled with bait at each cast. The outcome of fishing will depend on how correctly all the ingredients are selected. The easiest way, if there are financial opportunities, is to purchase ready-made mixtures in dry form and then cook them near a pond by adding a little water. In this case, fishing can be quite expensive. In order not to pay too much, you can stand near the stove for a while and get the original mixture, no worse than the purchased one. As a result of this approach, many recipes “came into being”. Moreover, most of them are quite catchy, since they take into account the taste preferences of crucian carp.

When preparing homemade bait recipes, three main types of cereals are used – these are pea, wheat and corn. Porridges are cooked from them, after which other ingredients are added to them that improve the taste and aromatic properties. In addition, the porridge must have a specific consistency, which would allow it to be kept in the feeder for a certain time. Substances that enhance the aromatic properties of the bait are added to the main composition of the bait. Quite often, makukha (sunflower cake) is added, which has a persistent aroma. In addition, crucian carp are interested in bait with dill and garlic flavor, as well as the flavor of cinnamon. It is possible to use artificial flavors, but they are easy to overdo, which can scare away crucian carp.

The density of the bait should be such that it does not fall out of the feeder after hitting the water, but is washed out of the feeder after hitting the bottom. There are cases when the spring is used for fishing on the course. This also requires preparing the correct consistency of the bait, as the current will wash the bait out of the feeder much faster.

Bait

For greater efficiency, the use of not only bait, but also bait, which is located on hooks, is required. Widespread baits when fishing for crucian carp can be:

  • maggot;
  • dung or earthworm;
  • bloodworm;
  • corn, including canned;
  • steamed peas.

The spring works well if foam is used instead of the baits described above. These can be either colorless balls, or multi-colored, having a certain aroma.

Technique and tactics of fishing on a spring

To begin with, you should find a promising place where the crucian spends the most time. Naturally, it is unlikely that crucian carp will be interested in clean water, especially if there are enemies in the form of perch or crucian carp. Therefore, he tries to stay closer to the thickets or blockages of fallen trees, as well as snags. Having decided on the place, they pre-feed the fish, which is expressed in several, one by one, throwing the feeder with food. After that, you can start the fishing process. To do this, a suitable bait is attached to each hook. So that when casting, the hooks do not overlap, they are stuck into the bait. After hitting the bottom, when the process of washing out the food begins, the baited hooks are released. It would be better if the hooks are in a suspended state, that is, they have positive buoyancy. This can provide a sandwich consisting of a foam ball and bait (worm, bloodworm or maggot). After the tackle is abandoned, it is installed on a stand, after which a bite signaling device is attached. It can be either an ordinary bell or an electronic, more advanced signaling device.

Due to the fact that the fish are feeding, all casts should be made in the same place. If this is not done, and all the food is scattered over a large area, then a good bite, and even more so a catch, should not be calculated.

The specificity of fishing on a spring, especially when it is rigidly attached to the fishing line, is that crucian carp self-secure under the weight of the feeder. Therefore, there is no need to do any cuttings. If the bite signaling device worked, then the crucian carp is already on the hook. In order for self-cutting to occur without misfires, sharp hooks and preferably imported, branded ones should be used.

The task of the angler is to carefully pull the caught crucian to the shore. As a rule, large individuals are rarely seen, so you will have to pull out small carp, only about 100 g, and this is not a problem.

In any case, it is better to have a small landing net, as the leaders can be very thin, and even a small specimen can break it when playing.
