Cognac “Kartel” is produced by CJSC “Wine and Cognac Plant “Rus”, located in the Stavropol Territory. For the production of cognac spirits, grapes grown on the lands that belong to the enterprise are used. This allows the plant’s technologists to carefully control the beverage production process at all stages: from harvesting to bottling.

Historical reference. CJSC VKK “Rus” was established in 2006 by merging the Scientific and Experimental “Combine of the Russian Agricultural Academy” and the Prikumskaya Experimental Station of Viticulture and Winemaking, founded in 1959. The company’s team includes some of the best technologists in the South of Russia. In 2010, the plant purchased new equipment for the production of cognacs, and cellars were significantly expanded during the reconstruction. After only 8 years, the company’s assortment already includes 30 brands of cognacs, many of which have been awarded awards at international competitions.

Due to the warm climate and fertile soils, cognac spirits from Stavropol grapes meet the highest quality standards. The plant’s technologists initially conceived “Kartel” as a good cognac in the middle price segment. Two types of cognac “Cartel” were produced: 3- and 5-year-old. The new drink had a pleasant mild taste and rich aroma. Despite the fact that cognac is ordinary, it is recommended to serve it as a digestif.

But a lot of good cognacs are produced in the Stavropol Territory, and it is not easy to bring a new product to the market due to serious competition. Therefore, the company’s marketers came up with a name for the new product, consonant with the name of one of the most famous French brands – Cortel. It is impossible to find fault: “Cartel” in English sounds like Kartel. But the calculation was that the similarity of names will definitely interest cognac lovers. In addition, now search engines, when searching for the elite French cognac “Cortel”, necessarily throw up to the consumer several links to the less titled Stavropol “Cartel”.
