Recommendations for growing

Loamy or sandy soils are ideal for growing carrots. Planting seeds after crops such as:

  • potatoes;
  • bow;
  • tomatoes;
  • cucumbers.

Before planting Lakomka, it is recommended to fertilize the ground in advance. The optimal time for fertilizing is autumn.

Advice! You can, of course, fertilize the soil in the spring. But then you have to wait a bit with planting seeds. Since organic and mineral fertilizers applied just before planting can adversely affect the future harvest.

At the same time, it is strictly forbidden to fertilize the carrot bed with manure. If manure is nevertheless brought into the garden, then it is better to give this place to other crops, for example: cucumbers, cabbage or onions. Carrots should be grown in this garden after these crops.

The carrot variety Lakomka is planted in the garden at the end of April, when the spring frosts have passed. Disembarkation order:

  1. In the garden, it is necessary to make grooves up to 3 cm deep. At the same time, there should be about 20 cm between adjacent grooves.
  2. The seeds are planted in grooves moistened with warm water every 4-6 cm. If the seeds are planted more often, then the seedlings will have to be thinned out so that the distance between them is no more than 5 cm.
  3. Mulching beds. Sawdust and hay are suitable for this. If the bed will not be mulched, then the seeds should be covered with covering material until the first shoots appear.
Important! Carrot seeds of this variety are most often coated with a special compound to facilitate sowing and growing. Soaking such seeds is prohibited. The presence of a coating composition is indicated on the package with seeds.

Subsequent care for germinated seeds is quite simple and includes:

  • Watering;
  • weeding;
  • Loosening.

Watering should be regular, as the soil dries in the garden. Weeding and loosening is recommended to be done no more than 1 time per week.

The harvested root crops of this variety can be stored for a long time. To do this, you need to select only those root crops on which there are no damages.

This is a great carrot. Sugar Gourmand is very popular with both children and adults. It keeps well and doesn’t spoil at all. I recommend to everyone.

I chose this carrot after reading the reviews. The seeds were in special granules and were very easy to plant. Germination in Lakomka is good. Root crops are completely undemanding to care. Sometimes I forgot to water, sometimes I flooded it – it did not affect the crop. Carrots are quite large and very tasty. Straight sugar. It was written on the packaging that it keeps well, but we cracked like that. Will definitely plant again and recommend to others.
