Caring for indoor flowers for cockerels
Cockerel flowers are also called iris. They are suitable for decorating the garden area, but they can also be grown at home.
What indoor flowers cockerels look like
They belong to the iris family. In total, there are up to 200 varieties of cockerels. They differ in shade, height and flowering period. Low-growing plants are suitable for growing at home. Tall species reach 1-1,2 m in height, so they should not be planted in pots. It is better to grow such plants in a flower bed. The height of low-growing flowers is only 10-20 cm.
For pot growing, a mesh flower is suitable
The cockerels bloom for 2 weeks. Depending on the species, flowering occurs in mid-May – early July. To see flowers in early spring, plant your cockerels in early fall. In a pot 12 cm in diameter, you can plant 6-8 rhizomes of a flower. Shades of domestic cockerels are purple or blue with white dots on the petals.
Conditions for keeping irises:
- The flower needs bright sunlight during the flowering period, in the phase of active growth you can shade the pot, but for the winter, move the plant to a dark place.
- The optimum air temperature for iris is 4-7˚С. During flowering, temperature indicators should not exceed 13-16˚С.
- The flower does not like high humidity, cold air is suitable.
- Iris prefers clay soil.
If you follow these conditions, then the irises will delight you with bright flowering.
Dwarf irises are not demanding to care for. They grow quickly and bloom in pots on the windowsill.
The care is as follows:
- Irises like moderate watering. Water twice a week in summer. In winter, cut watering by half. You do not need to spray the flower.
- After flowering, remove the faded stems.
- Repot the flower every year. During the procedure, remove the yellow leaves and separate the babies. Plant young offspring in pots or plant in the garden. After 2-3 years, irises will bloom in the flowerbed.
- Feed the plants with liquid mineral fertilizers for flowering. Start feeding when buds appear and continue until the leaves wither. Apply fertilizer every 10 days.
- In the summer, take the flower to fresh air.
Do not overfeed irises, otherwise the plant will give many shoots, but you will not wait for flowering.
With the help of cockerels, you will be able to create a small garden on your windowsill. With proper care, the flower produces many offspring, which will quickly increase your flower garden in size.
