In some families, the father takes care of the child and does it with pleasure, while in others, the care of the baby lies only with the mother. How are these families different? Psychologist Ruth Gaunt from Bar-Ilan University (Israel) suggested that it’s all about the life values of the spouses. After interviewing 209 couples with one child from 6 to 36 months, she found out that the father takes care of the child more or on an equal footing with the mother in those families where both partners are open to new things and are not afraid of changes in life. At the same time, they are not influenced by conservative values and the fear of losing stability. The hypothesis was also confirmed that the spouse for whom personal achievements are most important is less involved in «children’s affairs».
